Crystalline ring unequipped and disappeared in shame! Help!

I bought a cryst ring this morning for 18mil. Insured it, equipped it and went along my business.

About 30 minutes later, I enter shame and kill a few mobs before summoning the lvl 1 'champion'. It says I must find him.....ugh. I run around and don't see anything on the first level, so I go to lvl 2. Upon running down past a clay golem and a mud ele, I noticed my magery and focus skill drop as if I had unequipped the ring. Triple checked my pack, not there. Not in my bank...not anywhere. I crash logged shortly after and thought there was a server revert....logged back on still no ring. Even checked the vendor to see if it was back in his inventory...it was not.

Paged a GM who pretty much said he couldn't do anything and to report the bug via website. He also said that I realistically should not expect a response or a replacement. Wow, really? I know the logs record everything and it could be looked into with minimal effort. But as a longtime PAYING customer/uo supporter, this is too much to ask?

-It wasnt in a bag inside my pack

Ya. This ain't WoW so you don't get back lost items. As for logs....maybe they have them or maybe they don't. Either way they never return lost items unless you find the right GM. Then there was the Magincia rubble deletion...

Hopefully you find it under a newbie dagger or something.

As for recreating the bug, I wouldn't even know where to begin. I also feel that as a paying player, this is not my responsibility. I was the victim of a bug and I reported it with great detail of what happened and where, as well as recent events in the game. I think thats about as far as I should have to take things on my end.

As a competent staff, EA devs should be the ones who look into it and fix it. However, if this is the kind of 'support' that EA offers to it's loyal players, I think it will be the final straw for me and my uo gaming days.

C`mon its 18 mill... you can make that by accident in UO today. Step away from the PC,breath,punch a pillow or something and move on. Doo doo happens.

Your in good company my friend. Shame has a "few" bugs that are doing some strange stuff.
My son got knocked off his charger of the fallen and it poofed. Got the same message from the GM's. I reported it and as you can guess thats the last you hear about it.

Dont expect it to be replaced, as I dont the charger being replaced any time soon. Its been a fact of UO play for over 13 years. Unless a GM see's the item poof it didnt exsist in your posession and even if they did see it go poof there is still a 99% chance they will say: Sorry we can not replace lost or stolen items.

Yes it is not too hard to trace an item by its # but UO has no way to trace a single item... they never incorporated the system in the game. Unlike wow which traces your every character and has a log of each and every item you have possessed, UO does not. Oh they can go into in house and pull up the days save and look to see if its there but the time and cost is very prohibitive in the over all calls it would need to satisfy all the loss's a day players have....so no you wont get your ring back. Your only recourse and I seriouly doubt she can do it but one can never tell.. ask Mesanna. PM her with what happened and see if she can look into it.

PS: This is no reason to go "I QUIT" its pixels and time to make the gold. Yes I know for many its a pain inthe royal tush and shouldnt be this way but we have had this in place for as I said over 13 years. Its not new. As suguested walk from the room get a drink go talk to friends or family, watch a movie, get mad and punch the pillows if its the serious to you but its not a reason to quit.
There is not one person in UO this has not happened to in the years of game play. Its a simple replacement sugar.

I play there all the time and have never experienced this at all! are you sure you had enough money to insure it to start with? and had not died earlier?

I am positive i did not die and I am positive I had a few mil in the bank...plenty enough for insurance.

As for 18 being a paltry amount, thats not really the case for me. I don't play as much anymore...I no longer have a vendor. Slanging wares is harder and harder on uo these days due to a small player pool, most of which already have everything (even doubles..triples). So in my case, 18m was a big amount of gold.

EDIT: As for quitting, its not a rage thing.....just a slow build up of little things over the years. Players leaving, lack of genuinely good/unique content/features/events, bugs like this. UO no longer holds my attention like it once did...so when I do logon and something like this happens, it's the icing on the cake really. I really hope they have a future uo inspired project/remake in the future....its been a fun game to play through the years and definitely paved the way for MMOs as we know them.

I think he is probably on the money. My first time in shame I took my tamer which I play often ( and die on often) shame reset 1/2 my items insurance dropped a crystal ball of pet summoning all kinds of stuff. and then it got to where I couldn't move any items in my pack tell I loged complete in and out, did that then was able to get back to shame, to loot my stuff I got lucky nothing nabbed anything.

Stuff happens... I`ve just learned to roll with it. Disappointing,yes...but not gonna make me quit. I do quit (while keeping acc`s active) here and there,helps to keep it fresher. That only lasts a week or so and I`m back in it. IMO... ppl need mutiple games in order to not get super bored and aggravated with just one.

Thank god for F2P games like Battlefield Hero`s or S.U.N. to provide a cheap option for UO.

So don`t quit!.... Just take a vacation from UO and immerse yourself in something else.

There might be a problem with crystaline rings was a guy at Atlantic west brit bank that claimed he lost a ring when we did fight a turkey there some days ago

we was a mage 2 archers a warrior and a provoker there at the time but that all the details i can remember

Devs should look into this crystaline rings go missing thing

Extremely nice of you to offer, thanks. My toons are on ATL now however. Strange another poster knew of someone else losing his crystalline ring as well. Also, other people are posting of weird things happening to their insured/blessed items in shame....hmmmm

And to the last post. YES, it was insured. NO, I did not die. I've played uo off and on for close to 10 years and i'm very familiar with game mechanics...insuring, not placing stuff in a bag in a bag, etc. Problemt is, I didn't unequip it.....it did it on it's own while I was running. I had only noticed it due to the notification of my magery and focus dropping by 20 points each.

What time was it? Was it close to a server down? How long did it take for you to log back in?

Sounds like the ring poofed, which isn't a matter of insurance--not sure why everyone is telling you to check insurance. Hm.

The worst thing that has ever happened to me in UO over the last 12 years has been a smithy repair bug in which I lost my AOS bless deed. Awhile ago, now. The bug was you'd try to repair a metal item w/ smithy and instead of repairing the item it would smelt the item, which would delete the AOS deed. I was pretty sore about that.

Can you completely empty your pack? I mean remove every single thing in your pack, just pop it in a secure chest for a moment. Then check your item count.

I have had items become lost in my pack after a transfer - not during or immediately after a transfer, but some time long afterwards. A GM was kind enough to remove the items & return them to me.

Worth checking, especially if you have shard transferred the character.

If this is something we can verify by reproducing on test center we can pass it along too waving orange sticks.

There were issues with Shame and Turkeys early on. If there is a relapse on any of these bugs it would be good to try and catch it again.

Sorry for your loss Lizard. Not everyone has millions at their disposal to replace those kinds of items.

has it ever been inside a container that might have decayed? i've had this issue with items that had been inside strongboxes, for some reason even when taken out if you put directly on your character it still "belongs" to the previous container sometimes, and if that container decays the items can poof with it.

On PST server down is 3am I believe, I had client crashed at about 8am ish. Logged back in immediately and continued my way through the dungeon then *poof*

Guess i'll have to start saving again. Sucks since it was a primary piece to my suit on a pretty crowded template.

I've had a Shame shield unequip, Twice, in a couple hours, but it was in SA fighting ants, and it didn't go poof, just went to backpack

In the time that I'll be hanging around this thing, I don't see myself going near Shame again. At least not while they can't cover for it when it breaks in this awful sort of way.

It's not even necessarily a matter of returning the vanished item to the player.

Even if for example it was the player's "fault" (word used loosely), they appear to not have the ability to be able to advise, like, "Hey, you forgot to insure it dude, and something occurred which was a part of the game's normal function and as a result, it was not on your corpse when you looted it." They can't tell him that because it's all apparently a black hole of information.

Question - was it bought off another player directly, or off a vendor?

Insurance can malfunction if it was originally put in its insured state by a different character than the wearer. So you might have lost it earlier and not noticed, if it was already insured when you got it, or you insured it with a different character than the one that eventually wore it to Shame.

This sounds to me like a reintroduction of the bug we experienced on Origin when the loot system was rolled out. Was the ring in a container in your pack?

Well, this makes me very sad, I thought we were passed this and maybe it has been fixed in the interim, but reintroduction, if thats what this is is a sad oversight, and reintroduction without compensation for the loss is well, I'd be mad as he!!.

I wont be taking artifact loot down into shame at all until I hear differently.

You know the item in question here is a ring right? I ask because I have never heard of a ring breaking, ever.
