Crossing server lines

When entering a dungeon or crossing a server line, you lose hit points/mana/stamina depending on the armor you're wearing, as if you've taken off all your armor and insta re-equipped it.

This is true for both clients.

Also, if you had a player on tracking you will lose that player on tracking, or if another player crosses a server line or enters a dungeon, you will lose that player on tracking.

This is not really a bug - it is because Felucca and Trammel (and maybe other facets) were built spanning several different servers. When you cross a server line, your character is being deleted from one server and recreated on the other starting with the character, then the items worn and then the items in the backpack. So you see the character and stats, then the stats from the armor being added, etc.

Same for the tracking portion of the report. The character on the old side of the server line is destroyed and a new one is created... It would be kind of hard to track through that.

The only way to fix it would be to move the entire facet onto a single server - but you would still see it when going through a moongate. Moving the facet to a single server would take a major rebuild of the game and server structure.

We all know why it works this way, but it's still a bug, since if your suit consists of +25 hit points and you enter a dungeon you'd then lose 25 hit points. Just because we understand how the servers are set up, doesn't make it acceptable.

The server should save your current hp/mana/dex and save who you've been tracking or were being tracked by.

It does save it... It saves what is on your character - and what is on the suit pieces. The problem is that the server has to take a moment to dress your character on the other side.

This is not a bug - it is the way the servers are structured and the way that they pass off data. If the server stored the actual total (person + suit) for load on the other side - and then put the suit on you - this would open the door to exploits as people would attempt to crash the computer/server when crossing a server line so that the suit info could be permanently stored on the character and then the suit bonus' added a 2nd time.

The servers work the way they do for a reason. Just because you don't like the way it is designed does not make it a bug.

I remember this being addressed long ago and has been brought up a few times and is one of the things that is going to remain as is do to the way uo is structured

Ok, if i enter a dungeon on 150 hp, why do i come out the other side on 125/150 hp if it saves the info?

Tazar, in that case, nothing is a bug, and everything is working as intended by your logic, there are no bugs in the game at all, even if the client crashes to desktop, you could argue it's working as intended.

I don't really understand why you moved the thread, it's not like fixing this bug is going to have any negative impacts on anybody, it would be an improvement to the game, moreso than other bug threads submitted like the enhanced client not displaying good EVs properly.

What you described is not a bug. It is the way the game is built.

IF you lose stats that aren't returned on the other side of the server line, that would be a bug. But that's not what your post said.

Losing the stats is because for a moment, you are undressed and you have to regenerate the life/mana/stamina to the new cap provided by your armor once you are wearing your armor. The stats are returned soon enough as you regenerate to the higher cap provided by your armor statistics.

There is nothing unbalancing about this in PVP - since it happens to both participants in a fight that crosses a server line.

Well actually it IS unbalancing, since 1, i could be tracking someone and they cross a server line and i lose the tracking, and 2, the first player who crosses the server line on 50/150 hit points will not lose health as they have already been damaged, however if you're undamaged, you will lose hp

According to Tazars criterium, there are no bugs, in the entire world, everything is working as it should be, i'd like to live in his world, it seems happy.

No, he just has more game knowledge than you on this topic. It HAS been discussed before. Developers HAVE commented. It is NOT a bug. It's the way the server code is written and can not be changed without re-writing the whole darn game from the ground up.
I hate to disillusion you but the definition of 'bug' is not 'that which Mervyn does not like'.

I didn't even mention the flagging issues that come with crossing server lines where one guy can flag on another guy then jump the server line and recall, i'm simply trying to improve the game mechanics, other games do not do this, i clearly stated how it does affect players and is abused, and just because fixing it would involve rewriting the base game code doesn't mean that it's a feature.

I've posted at least 10 bugs/exploits on the bug list, no one is challenging my other bugs/exploits, so i'm pretty sure i know what is a feature and what is a bug.

No, I moved one of your other posts that was not a bug, and if I'd read this one before Tazar I'd have been the one to move it.
If there is a flagging issue related to crossing server lines that could be a bug. The server removing buffs and re-adding them is not one.
