Crater in Moonglow

I havent played in a while but I was in Moonglow today (Pacific) and there was a crater in the middle of town...

So what happened? what was there before the hole?



P.S have they changed the Ore system back to set spots? or is it still random colors?

The crater is from an earlier part of the current event arc in which the blackrock machine blew up and opened up a rift to the void.

No, random ore is still in place.
