Crashing issues

Hey All,
I am a long time UO player. I run a fairly new computer running Windows 11 Pro. I use enhanced client with Pinko's. For the last 3 weeks my game has been crashing at random intervals. A real buzz kill. I have worked with Pinko's and I have tried his list of suggestions with no luck. He is positive it is related to anti virus or windows. I am inclined to agree with him. Is anyone else having or has had tjis problem?

I use classic client and Windows 10. Get regular disconnects no matter what I'm doing or game I'm playing, that I'm positive are Windows-related. I'm sure Windows 11 is even more annoying, which is why I have no desire to upgrade to it and even resisted Windows 10 until unavoidable.

I have tried my windows 11, 10 and even an XP setup and I am getting disconnected on both the CC and EC clients randomly. I then decided to try the web client (ClassicUO) and the same thing! Disconnects , randomly. I thought at first this could have been an issue on my side (I am using star-link due to where I live) but I logged into two different freeshard for days on end and never disconnected once, so definately a broadsword server issue.

Agreed, no rhyme or reason.. I too have multiple accounts on, and one will lose connection, while the other is fine. No specific action causing it.. so definitely something going on with the latency of the server, packet loss or just general stability.

Getting very frustrating.

I have documented this and reported these disconnects since it started in December 2024. The problem started when they tried to stop the non approved clients.

I noticed that on server log in, a lot of the shards are not showing latency results. The ones that show results I don't have any random loss of connection and UO plays just fine.

The shards that appear in the list but show no latency results for me appear to be the ones where random connection losses occur. I suspect there is an intermediate server somewhere that is causing the connection loss issues.

I doubt this is anything with operating system, firewalls or antivirus since multiple people are suddenly experiencing it. Also, I've had multiple days where everything is just fine and UO runs great. Then a day where suddenly lots of disconnects occur.

The disconnects are on every shard based on the feedback I’ve collected from players. Bug reports have been submitted by multiple players and the Developers were notified of the disconnects in December 2024. They have never acknowledged or responded to the problem.

And are you surprised? Normal routine now, not responding

What does this have to do with the fact that they never answer? Not even during the December hacker attack? Lack of time?

Please take this as I mean it, it is nice to hear that I am not the only one having this problem. I have been working for 3+ week to try and work this out. I too have several accounts and I cannot use them properly

I had a hard crash on my Windows 11 PC the other night just as a vampire bat appeared on the screen and my character had nothing in his hands. I had to restart the PC to fix it - I couldn't stop/kill/terminate the processes for whatever reason, even from the command line. It seems to happen every other week.

By the time I logged in on another computer, my character was dead, but he went from 0 to 1.4 in wrestling, so I feel like he put up a fair fight! I wouldn't have cared, but he had a lumberjack satchel on him, which is not insurable.

I would love to use Pinco's, but I have problems with the "LOADING" splash screen way too often, and I've tried everything under the sun - deleting the character dir/settings fixes it usually, but I don't want to keep doing that. I may fiddle around with it and get it working, and make a copy of that directory/settings and then just copy it over when it happens.

I guess they won't admit since their swap over a few months ago to "The Cloud" the game has been terrible for seconds of lag or completely shutting down... Don't tell us it's our internet, fiber is as stable as all, if it was internet team speak would drop as well as anything else in the house.

Myself and others have posted the problem on the UO Forums since last December when the disconnects started. Non of the Developers have ever responded.

I have had a few disconnects where I can log back on immediately. Only died once, but it alters my decision making in game. However I remember the first time my first character died. I was training swords and still a newbie fighting a grizzly bear till I was redlined and then run away and heal up then go back at it again. I got disconnected and could not log back in for 30 minutes which wasn't uncommon back in those days. Not only was I dead but my body was gone as well. Lag back in those days was horrible. The quick disconnect is still annoying enough to alter my game playing

Again I suggest this is a small issue (I know it's big for those it's happening to) or we'd hear more about it many have fixed and posted solutions start posting shards and times in official forum so they can isolate trouble if it's on their end

Thanks, James. I've been having this problem on several shards as well. Really annoying and it has been happening with regularity the past few weeks.

Yea I haven't seen a fix for this either and would love to not have to deal with this just about everytime i log on. It's been constant and I have died multiple times from it.

I can usually immediately log back in however sometimes it hangs at connecting but closing the client will fix.

I have had it happen 5+ times in a row always within a few minutes of logging in. It seems once I get passed that first few minutes it's ok.

Trace route to troubleshoot would make sense if both accounts disconnect but this doesn't happen. ..
