I noticed a couple of you that hail from the Metro Detroit area and my boyfriend just passed on a terrific article he found on the Sports Illustrated website, written by Mitch Albom (who I don't think much of as a person, but he is a TERRIFIC writer) so I thought I would pass it on.

It isn't about how awful the Lion's did (although he does mention it!), it's about how AWESOME our city is and how there is hope for us yet: 'We are sombody, because God loves us'.

It starts and ends with his experience on Christmas Eve volunteering downtown ...

Hope you all enjoy it, native Detroiters or not :)

Where about in the Detroit area are you from? I'm north of Detroit but drive into the city for work, which has been a challenge with all the snow this year! I think there is something going on with us on Stratics, I also slipped and fell this morning and hurt my back...well maybe my pride was hurt more than my back! First thing I did was look around to see what neighbors were up to witness my graceful event!

I just got that magazine with that in it. Although i didnt read it i knew it was about the good history they had, instead of the present day lions.

I grew up in Troy but then my family relocated to Macomb. Now I live in Kalamazoo after graduating from Western last April. It has been a really treacherous winter! My mother (still in Macomb) and I have both fallen this year, and she has a nasty case of tennis elbow from all the shoveling! And I feel bad because she just gave me her snow blower! :(

As a side note, is it bad that we rooted for the Lions last loss??? ;)

Stay warm and safe out there! :)

WOW! I'm really geeked that somebody still believes in public transportation!!!! =)

I actually got my degree in Urban Planning and Environmental Studies (not that I've been able to find much to do with it yet, lol), so seeing that you ride the bus got me really excited!!!

Yeah ... I'm dorky (I was also up till 6 am playing TT with the roomie, lol).

Yay for lan parties! hehe ;)

Stay warm out there, I can't believe how bitter cold it's been, even the dog doesn't stop and play when he goes out ... never thought I'd see the day ...
