EM Event Council Du Roi, Tuesday 17th December 8pm GMT

[EM Gotan]

I will be hosting the first meeting of the Council on the Tuesday after elections end; Governors need to take their position by then, and if you have any ideas for roleplay, town improvements etc please bring them along. The event will be IN CHARACTER and not for wider EM issues, ideas etc. Please PM me those here or at the Webpage. Reports for this count for the Archivist rewards, not the Investigator ones.

And here's some fiction for it!

From out on the open Veranda of Castle Blackthorn you could, if you just strained your ears, hear the evocative sounds of someone playing upon a harpsichord... the King smiled faintly, and remembered the times spent in the company of his friend Cantabrigian, debating the importance of virtue and inspiration to the true artist...

“And what would he have made of the scene below, I wonder?” Inside the nearby city, someone was shouting themselves hoarse, louder even than the normally dominant town criers, howling the same message again and again at bewildered people walking by; “Vote for ME for Town Governer! It's me! Vote for ME!” The King turned his attention to the paper in his hand, a report from his trusted spymaster Skaros on the same subject. “Let's see, a campaign to take over a town, any town just to tax it's citizens to pay for a minor magical buff for someone else; where as in Trinsic it appeared to be a deadly serious battle by two resident candidates out of uncompromising love for their city. But ahah, in Skara Brae I see two drunken madmen got into a fight over, it says here, 'whose pants smelt the worst' and something called 'wobbing', and at least one was running for Governor to settle the argument by legislation... “

King Blackthorn let out a hearty laugh, and leaned on the railing to continue observing the startled citizen's of Britain each time they passed the yelling man. “Yes” he thought, this was the perfect illustration of what he had always called the 'Creative Power Of Chaos.' From the boiling, jumbled stew of his people would come the most nourishing of meals; the plain vegetables of Virtue were admirable yes, but a man cannot live on consistency alone. Let his talents and morality be tested by the crucible of changing circumstances. Listening closer, the King could hear now one citizen of the city demanding to know how much his vote was worth. “Yes, yes! That's when we know if we have a true Governor...!”

So perhaps now was time to talk directly to his people of Chaos. Not that of the inhuman travesty that had dared take his name, and slander his philosophy. No, the kind of Chaos only a King and friend of Kings could explain. Blackthorn turned back from the city and pulled on a nearby rope, eventually summoning his nearly appointed Royal Archivist, Annabell Lee. There was always so much paperwork to deal with, so many tedious chores to running a Kingdom that Blackthorn preferred to delegate elsewhere to those who had an aptitude for them.

“Tell me Miss Lee, when can we expect all the new Governor's to be settled in?”

“Well Sire, it seems voting will end this coming Sunday, so allowing for a few days for them to take their robes of office, and giving yourself time to sort out any ties that may occur, which as I'm sure you know according to Royal Charter is your regal right, I'd say by early the following week. May I suggest then if you are scheduling the Council Du Roi you do so on Tuesday 17th December 2013, at 8pm.”

“Excellent. I have much I aim to share with them; and I especially look forward to hearing what crazily brilliant schemes my people will have come up with! I trust you will be there to record events?”

“Of course Sire. And to also collect any submissions from the public; they can note them on the form below...”

I only attended as a citizen not in any gubernatorial role but I am pleased to report it went REALLY well. The mentally challenged who attended the general meeting were conspicuous by their absence and those who attended were in general courteous and polite. The King listened carefully to all proposals and I would say the signs auger well for the future. There appears to be some degree of conflict between Alaster and Anna but mostly it seems to be good-natured.

I originally planned to do so, but the posts were taking up a lot of the front page, and debates were being dragged all over the place, where as the EM forums have some more useful features I needed as well, so it was decided it was best to have them over here. I understand it's not quite as handy as having them front page, however upcoming events will always appear on the front page of the Europa.uoem.net page, as well as on the Calendar in the Europa History... that's where your stories, if submitted and flagged for Royal Archiving will be slotted in too as well, generating a living history of the shard where my events will just be part of the patchwork of fun involved.

As for how it went, the almost completely unedited first part of the chat log is below; there wasn't even much spell spam, although the CD guild did insist on quietly punching each other a little, and apparently someone's invisible pet was eager for a fight...

However I neither confirm nor deny the gender beneath the robe, nor that any jokes were pre-scripted It depends who gets Blackthorn duty on the day, as the guide on the Atlantic forums indicates!

Patience , Patience, It is still a week till Christmas and I suspect the 21st has some significance​

No spoilers for anyone! But the Christmas Deco is now up in Luna, let me know what you think of that... I've not forgotten you all, just a lot of Decemeber Commitments to complete
