Wow! I'm suprised at my reaction to hearing that song play'd.... I haven't had the music
on for many years now, but hearing our
anthem got me to immediately turn it back on... That - is a
classic piece - for so many of us, and it reminds me of all those "
days-back-when" when I was new to UO and how I really loved hearing that song... To me, it meant I was (
for the time being anyway) safe from dangerous things, since we hear something else when all is not well... So, at the very least, thx for posting that - just for the
memory effect it had on me.
As for adding the ability for Bards to actually BE Bards, that would be fantastic! And it should surely be doable.... Please hear me out.
Blood mentioned:
...... On the topic of UO bards being able to play music while at the birthday party a dev stated "no" as the answer to your question. He stated something about problems arise when players start playing music which is copywrite.....
Well, that Dev must have been thinking that the Bard would be playing audio
NOT native to UO (as in being able to tell a Bard to play Jethro Tull or (insert your favorite musician here). That would, obviously, be NOT doable.
However, if a Bard could play
music that IS NATIVE and already in place in UO,
THAT would be very, very cool... ( Imagine for a sec you have a couple of people over to your home or the local pub, and you as a Bard could take requests for various UO tunes to play - and then play them. I'm thinking about one of my favorite in-game midi's, the music you hear when you go to the beach by Honor, that (
I bet) some people have never enjoyed. I imagine the conversation with the Bard might go something like this:
Dude! Play that music that I hear when I recall to the Honor shrine...
Hey, np... It's one of my favs too...
**play's it** )
I love the idea - and it really could happen, if they
wanted to do it... So, speak up if you like the idea...
Just sayin.......
