Could Ems have the Global chat power?

Event moderators do sometimes announce events globally. But it is mostly on smaller shards where participation might not be so large.

I don't think I've heard an EM do an announcement except for Mesanna, who is their chief as I understand it. Not recently anyway.

Useful, and not only for global 'start of event' notifications.

I often lose track of where the EM is in a hectic event, or catch a glimpse of their text from somewhere saying 'Everyone head South' but I don't know how far! Last night was fairly typical, lateish on in the fight I 'lost' where the battle was and ended recalling back to the EM office and waiting to see if someone came by who could tell me if 'we' won or not. During the event, even a sub-server chat power would help a lot, if they get chance to describe where they are. Before and after, to gather people and announce the outcomes, global chat would be extremely handy.

Maybe a way for them to appear as a unique 'dot' on the radar map (preferably without having to get on the same screen as them to set it up, they tend to be moving about a lot once things get started!) would be useful too.

We have a some very good warning systems for events already on Europa, a town crier outside EM office just say Events and he will update you on next one/ones, or visit EMs web site, calander on there keeps us informed. BTW giveng the EMs there own web site was a great idea , back to topic. I agree with Aurelius that some way to keep tabs on where the EM is during the event would be great. Last night was over such a vaste battle field it was hard and Dawn was running from fight to fight encouraging everyone, it was very easy to get lost once the Crimson you were fighting dropped. Add to this the drab clothing all the main charecters wear in the main story arch it would be good to have a mark on our radar showing in which direction the EM is. We have even set a cu to follow EM before now to make them easier to track, not at all ideal but sometimes helps. Another thing that always help at events is grab EMs bar, if you get lost run round and when you see it go gold you have found them, helps when there are large crowds too.

Can they be given rights to update the Events posts on UOHerald with their schedule?

Or alternatively, when Devs posts global events on UOHerald, can they provide a link to the EM sites?

I personally think global announcements break immersion and should be used very rarely.

Also, really? A global announcement about minor updates during an ongoing event? C'mon, that can get annoying very quickly. We have communication crystals for a reason and EM's are free to use them. I have seen them being used quite effectively in the past for such things.

The problems about people getting lost etc. during an event can be countered quite effectively by presentation. Global announcement is an overkill.
