Container Bugs not just SA items?

Hey guys, I've read about how the new Gargoyle Dressers have deleted items, so watch out for that, but just now I locked down and secured a Barrel from a Brigands camp I just picked up, and then 20 minutes later I signed back on with a different character and the Barrel is gone. So in other words, I guess, if you are locking down some new containers, give them some time to make sure they don't decay or do something weird.

I wonder if it decayed because the game still treated it as part of the Brigands camp, and when the camp decayed, the Barrel decayed too? This bug could be very old, but I've never had this happen after I've looted a Barrel before. If anyone has any insights on it though I'd be glad to hear =).

That would definitely be a new one, I've never had a brigand barrel decay before.

Was it on the same subserver as your house? I'm very disturbed that you marked it as a secure and it still disappeared. Check your secure count on the house to make sure it properly "unsecured" it on your item counts.

I'm not sure on sub-server although I assume they are different. House is by Vesper beach, and Barrel spawned in New Haven (or Old Haven, hehe where the Brigands are).

Good question about whether or not it took a permanent house slot, that would be annoying! Haha. I'll test another Barrel out and see if the same thing happens.

This method takes forever. Two Kegs so far.

Okay, I put the two Kegs down, I'll try to get another Barrel later on. These Kegs were on my dexxer a bit longer than on my mage, so not sure it'll be the same test (if the camp decay caused the Barrel to decay). Maybe it was just a fluke. Will report on the two Kegs in a few minutes.

Arrrr, methinks the barrels and kegs do be treated as still part o' the camp. Me done had 'em disappear when me puts 'em in a secure container immediately after grabbin' 'em. This be happenin' on the ground floor, not sure if 'twould still happen on upper floors.

Okay, it's 5:33 (bout 20 minutes later) and one of my two Kegs decayed. I had 23 lock downs before locking the two Kegs down and now I have 21, so not only are the items decaying, I'm losing permanent lockdowns.

Yikes. I'm a bit afraid to use new containers of any sort now lol.

Geez. I guess this means you'd have to redeed your house to get them back because UO just gave me a response about item loss which we all know can't be fixed, haha. Hm. I love Barrels . I guess I'll have to try something else though .

Check your total secures vs used and total lockdowns vs used.

If needbe run around and validate that the lockdowns are used, but that can be annoying in a large house.

For secures it's usually easy, since it's 125 X number of secures.

I just checked and haven is on a separate subserver... that's really odd they must have added this behaviour recently.

Sounds like they are still part of the camp. The old ones must work.

What about other containers? Should we avoid using a new container? ex: paragon chest.

I'm not sure but when I had something disappear from my new dresser, I looked and one side was not secured. You have to secure both sides, not just one. No clue about the barrel one, but since I secured both sides of my dresser, nothing else has disappeared.

This is very very very old. Like 6 years? My husband locked down a tiny barrel from a brigand camp he had magic unlocked and telekenisied <- real word?!

Then he was talking to someone in his house a little bit later and on his screen the message

No longer locked down! appeared. He checked everything and saw nothing missing, being very concerned something sinister was happening.

Then later it hit him, about the barrel.

i will test a few ways to get it to stay, but if i memory serves me correctly, you can put it in your bank, or put it in your backpack and logout for the night.
