Buffs and debuffs are affects on your character. Consecrate is an effect on your weapon.

Temporarily enchants the weapon the caster is currently wielding. The type of damage the weapon inflicts when hitting a target will be converted to the target's weakest resistance type. Duration of the effect is affected by the caster's Karma, resulting in 5-11 seconds.

I do wish it was added to the buff bar, though.
Well, yes, but it still benefits my character even if indirectly.
Besides, it would be handy to see on the buffs/debuffs when the icon disappears to cast it again....
Or have the icon turn red like with Confidence and Evasion...
That one might make more sense I guess.
Problem with having it on your buff bar, what happens if you switch weapons?
Well, considering the extreme short span of Consecrate Weapon (5-11 seconds), there are not many chances that the spell is still on when the time comes to change weapon.
And even if this happened, the spell could go automatically off when unequipping the weapon.
Popps, I have a 4/6 chiv sword pally. I spam concencrate wep like mad when I solo the abyss champs. I hardly hear the sound it makes when it fades off because I constantly spam it. Between healing, curing, enemy of one, divine fury, concecrate wep with chivalry and the right wep, suit and stats I never run out of mana and pretty well have it timed before it fades out. Just get ya karma up as high as you can get it. You dont need an icon to remind you after 5 to 11 seconds you havent used the spell. It is constant spell I chain when I pvm.
Icon should turn red. This is no different than many of the other "spells" that turn red.
Not a bug, but an ommited logical feature...
The phenomenal Pinco Mod for the EC added a (non-calculated, but estimated) timer which is already super helpful. No reason for it not to be there.

who's whining... you sound like a total whiner yourself... i just responded with an opinion to the OP's question. What did you contribute with your post?
The weapon radiating in some way would be cool like an animation. Or, maybe change damage color depending on the targets weakest resistance for the duration.

cant look and check but doesnt Immolating Weapon and Curse Weapon have buff icons for thier effects? i swears at least one of them does, dont see how conscecrate cant have one too.

lots of effects/debuffs/buffs should have an icon
if you HLD/HLA someone they should get a debuff icon...
if you curse weapon you should get a buff icon
if you consecrate you should get a buff
etc
otherwise you are stuck listening for effects

Which can be challenging - especially if you're like me and listen to soft-core porn in the background.
Its taken you 13 years "ploppy" to find out cw doesnt have a buff on the bar.... ROFLMFHO....

Too bad that Chivalry was only added as first with the Age of Shadows release in 2003.
And that the Buffs/Bebuffs showing tool was added as first with Publish 40 in, ahem, the year 2006 (just 4 years ago...) !!!
Besides, it is not exactly such a well known feature that there is a way to show the buffs/debuffs in the game....
Not everyone is a powergamer or knows all of the ins and outs of the game. Lots just play it casually only from time to time to have fun with it, occasionally........
Also, people from time to time actually takes years away from UO and so, might well not be aware of many additions put in during years away.....
It is even worse because AOS (chivalry) was 2003 but the Buffs/Debuffs gump came only in 2006 with Publish 40 which was merely 4 years ago.
Considering that often players take years away from the game, not many can be aware of the buffs/debuffs addition....

enhanced client + custom UI (pinco's ui) will put timers on your icons telling you when the spells are no longer active.
Kind of what I been thinking through this whole thread.
But a simple solution would be turning it red.

Not only does it give me a timer for my consecrate, but i also get timers for my apples, grapes, petals, pots, dang near everything i need. works great for pvm and pvp so you know exactly when to recast or use item again.
