Im only at 14 in the begging skill. Very low karma. While beggin I got a gold coin today but it gave me a pile that said over 65K. Is this a bug? I dont beg very often but this is the first time its happened to me.

Every now and then (seldom) you can get an item that is mislabled. If it shows up as a single coin I would say that it actually is only 1 gold. (two to 5 shows up as a small stack.) You can see what it is really easy. Place it into the bank and try to get a check for that much while all other gold has been made into a check. It will either become the check, or tell you that you are trying to fool the banker. At that point it should say what it really is. (one gold) You can also item identify it. That also will show what it is. If it actually is that much it will be the largest amount anyone has gotten by begging.

As it is right now I think it is worth more than the 65k. What you do with it is up to you. In 11 years I have only seen it happen 1 time, and heard of it 3 times. It was never on the same type or kind of item.

This will happen occassionally when you beg from a NPC with no gold left. It doesnt happen all the time but frequently enuff that I wouldnt put it in the rare category

It's a known bug - I think it's in the FAQ, plus the Devs are aware of it - which seems to occur most frequently, if not exclusively, at lower karma levels. I don't think the bugged gold piles can be gotten any other way, so.. either trash them, spend them (1gp value), or stick 'em on a vendor as a semi-rare.
