Confused about IDOCs

After the GL IDOC refreshed I went to look at some others I had marked. One in particular I have been watching since it started to decay. It went IDOC earlier but it had a BOD storage vendor. I decided not to camp it out because it was late and it had a vendor. This morning when I logged in, I went to check on it and it had fallen.

Could someone explain why some houses with vendors go ahead and fall while others do not? In the case of the GL house, all of those vendors were placed by the house owner before mannequins to be used as mannequins. The other house I mentioned used their vendor as BOD storage.

Then there is the case of the house on Siege that fell and left the vendors behind. On another note, the IDOC timers are completely out of whack. Some stay in fairly for 2 or 3 days while others are only in fairly for a few hours. Is everything now completely random?

I do not do many these days but the couple i have been to fell around expected times so I have seen no variations (Europa). Vendors and OSI ones have always been a bit odd, whether the vendors are still holding any gold probably has an influence.

I have always understood that if the house has vendors that were placed by the house account holder that they would not prevent the house fall. However, if the house owner places vendors with a co-owned account, decay is treated as if those are 3rd party vendors (really how could the system tell the difference). Those vendors will cause the house to become OSI owned. From there I am still a little fuzzy on the exact rules. I always thought that the vendor would be allowed to stand until its contract ran out, then go into the house sign for a period of time to allow the owner to come and collect his gold/item. Once that time period ran out the vendor would become the property of the house (inside the moving crate) and the house would fall. However, I have seen houses with vendors that stand much longer than the maximum contract term of 30 days.

I think it's not random, but rather is based on a complex set of rules of which we don't know all, and based on factors not all of which we know.

I mean nothing conspiratorial by this, but rather mean to refer to the way that housing, like basically everything else in this game, appears to becobbled together from different systems of varying ages which aren't really intended to work together but must.

Galen, what time zone is stratics in ?

Rowan that vendor belonged to the house owner, he showed up and dropped the vendor. If the vendor had belonged to a renter or a character on his other account I am fairly certain the house would have gone OSI.

What I want to know is can you transfer a house in IDOC? Can the owner access his own secures when it is IDOC?

You can transfer a house, while it is still IDOC, but no longer in Demolition pending state.

some of these demo pending go thru the cycle numerous times. There is one on Origin that has no vendors and has been demo pending for a couple months. Someone posted on another thread about a home (I think on Sonoma) been demo pending for over a year.

This thing on GL is going to draw attention for months

I got asked about the GL house by several people on Pacific and had to explain to them why I wasn't bothering to camp it. It seems very few people, even people who hunt IDOCs regularly, don't understand how rented out vendors work with decaying houses. Once a house goes owned by OSI decay status on the sign means nothing. It all depends on the last rented out vendor's contract timer. Unless you're the owner of the house or the vendors you can't tell which ones are rented out or see the timer on them.

Okay I am going to admit my stupidity right now. I have no idea how you send someone a private message anymore. I thought Petra could tell me what time zone the stratics posts are in. I have tried to find it on my own. :( I so hope she reads this.

I still cannot find out if a house owner can access his own secures or unlock items he locked when his home is in the IDOC stage. He took down the vendor. So I know that can be done. I felt so bad for him is all.

Cyrah, yes it is their house until it either falls or becomes owned by OSI. However once it becomes idoc the only way to save it is to transfer it to another account. In this case, The vendors were all there when the house became owned by OSI.

I only checked the house out last night and while i was there all the vendors (I think all) vanished. Someone said a GM was at the home and got rid of all the vendors. I doubt the owner would show up, drop all his vendors with rare armor and then just leave with a 100 people at his house.

I was not talking about the GL house. It was on another shard. One vendor only that had a bod book.

pretty sure its as stated..

if the home owner owns the vendors the house will fall with the vendors all the stuff on the vendor including gold checks will fall to the floor in multiple backpacks

if the home owner as rented vendors out...the house goes osi and will stay osi untill the vendors have run out of gold payments

this is how i remember it back in the day i ran supreme on idocs.......[whatever] :next:

No the payments should not play a role here.
The current contract period - up to one month - would expire and not be renewed. The vendor would disappear, and the vendor owner be given one week to pull his stuff from house sign. So far the theory.
In practice I have heard of OSI owned houses falling a few days after disappearance of last vendor (of course, if the vendor owner pulled his stuff, there is no need for the house to stay up) or cycling forever.
