Concern from a returning player

Hi all

I recently revived my account after 3 years out and noticed that there were very few people about. I know the brit bank days are gone but in Luna nobody seems to be making a market in goods and loot, and most of the player vendors in luna and on umbra road are all empty.

My question is, where does everyone convene these days, and how do you sell your items? My main aim is to loot and steal my way to a castle, always has been my goal in the 7 years I played it but now I can't see a market for my wares.

I must be missing something, would anyone care to enlighten me?!

To be fair, Europa isn't that active anymore in the first place.
Besides this, the only properly working vendors can be found in Luna because of the search sites used nowadays.
Naturally, there are still a few vendor houses outside of Luna which are doing pretty decent, but they need a lil more attention.

Since global chat has been introduced, barely anyone is purchasing or selling items standing, spamming at Luna bank no more.
One can do it from anywhere in the realm.

Even if they're using illegal scripts (and we can pretty much guess that they do), it can not be proofed, at least not by the players. However, they also sell in-game items which is against the Rules of Conduct per:

8. With the exception of the sale of in-game items for in-game items or services, you may not market, promote or advertise anything, or make any other form of solicitation (including pyramid schemes and chain letters) through the Ultima Online service or Ultima Online web site.

and so we cant name those sites per:

11. You will not post the web site address (URL) to any sites which contain (..) content which violates the Electronic Arts Terms of Service.

If they were not selling in-game items, we might have given them the benefit of the doubt. However, they're in the business of making money out of virtual property and that's very different than fan sites.

Hello Asheron and welcome back!

I started a little shop a few months ago in my house near Compassion shrine. Since it is not in a location that people would normally trip over, I am using recall runes as advertising, dropping them at Brit West bank and Luna, as several other players do. Maybe you should try the same, I found that after leaving the runes I always have a few people having a look and often buy something. As long as you keep your vendors stocked, people will come back to see what's new. Who doesn't like a good shopping?

Another way to sell stuff is through the rented vendors in Magincia. But I don't think you can put everything on them and after the first rush, not many people seem to check them out (mostly because a lot of them are empty or sell things nobody wants). The successful shops (in Luna or outside Umbra) often offer vendor spots as well, so you might be able to use that for your wares.
