Thinking of creating a character on Seige...what's the best template to create and why...

or should I just craft?

What do you enjoy playing?

Are there any templates you have wanted to try out?

There is no best. Whatever you want, can work. Though there may be a few tweaks needed.

just make sure that you put your starting skill points into the most pain in the ass skills, like ninja or stealing. that way you can save yourself some time (dont do magery like some people do, you can get that to 50 in like an hour lol)

Can you afford soulstones?
Are you more PvP or PvM playstyle? Solo or group player?

Right now the shard is in dire need of SA resources.

When I came to siege many years ago I took 50 hide and 50 tame. The hide because almost no where is safe AFK and that's something your not used to, you can get up and grab a cup of coffee/ let cat out/ ... come back minutes later and your dead and dry looted in a guard zone.
The taming because it's my favorite play style and very time consuming to train.

I have to agree with the others. Play what you want to play. Screw anyone who tells you otherwise.

start with 50 imbuing.

Put your other 50 where ever you want.

Agreed, totally depends on what you like. Start with a base of melee, archer, mage, tamer or bard, or crafter and then develop from there. If you can tell us which one of those you prefer, and if you prefer pvp/pvm we can give you good templates along those lines.

If you do decide to go crafter, the hardest skills to train would probably be alchemy, inscription and poisoning, just because of their resource use. Also crafters are well utilized here. Other than that, if you want to go tamer, make sure to start with taming.

Oh, and welcome to Siege!

welcome ,
if you like crafting we could certainly use more , but play what you like .
if you dont care or will have plenty of rewards available for soulstones , its probably best to start with something like swords or fencing . theres no resources (regs , arrows) needed and you can farm leather and feathers.

npcs wont sell leather, feathers or cloth so people pay well for them , good startup money.

if you just plan to buy some gold then dig in and play what you like . gold runs about 5 bucks a mil here.

also siege can be quite challenging . some people like to hunt crafters and newbies . dont let them get to you . just expect to die ... frequently. dont carry what you cant afford to lose and have backup supplies ready.

we may not have insurance , but you may find thats a good thing if you had to pay every time you die. some folks may kill you but not loot (especially if your stuff is sub par) some may even res you afterward and chat with you about what went wrong. =)
we just sort of spend our "insurance" money up front in the form of an extra suit just sitting there waiting for the inevitable.

dont assume every red is an a hole . many reds i know went red defending others. just pay attention and you'll learn who is who soon enough. with one char per account we get to know each other pretty fast . even a name change probably will not help you if you get a bad rep.

so once again welcome to siege , the last remnant of the real uo .

if you need advice or anything , food , a basic suit , whatever . send me a pm . i'll try to help .

and remember , dont get mad . get vengence :thumbup1:

Like everyone says play what you want. There is always room for good crafter run vendor shops. If there is any skill you put points into, put them into something that you need resources for. Say your a crafter, put it into alchemy and imbue or something. Dont bother with smithy, since you gotta mine anyway to smelt, so your gonna have the ingots etc.

Note you cant buy skills here, so maybe ninja, or bush would be good ones. Since you need brace and ring to even start.
