Coming back to the game after about a two year break. Where's the pvp at now a days on west coast aka I'm assuming ATL is still the usual pvp east coast spot but my ping makes a mage impossible there. When I left napa had died, pac and origin were ok and it seemed the masses we're going to baja

If its PvP you are after dont bother, UO is dead for PvP. Try Archeage its new, only a few month old for the USA/EU although it has been in Korea and Russia for 2 years. The PvP is like old School UO PvP, the whole game is like a modern UO and its Free to Play. Its crafting system is one of the best i have seen in a long time where the top crafted items are way better than monster loot. You have all the profession that you can get in UO and more. I really think that it was modled on UO then made 1000X better.

Actually pvp is not dead. I do not have the answer for the best west coast shard, but I know it is very active on Atl and GL, moderately active on cats chessy and LS. I do know some people who play on Pacific with no complaints.

PvP has even picked up on the smaller shards with the new faction change called VvV. On Napa there have been some days over the last month with near 24/7 combat, other shards have to be close. Stat loss has been tamed and city fighting is a blast.

I agree with James. The only shard with substantial pvp is Atlantic, and sometimes a few random shards. Even atlantic isn't what it was. currently LS has some players i think but hardly alot. Its worth coming back to if you just want to mess around (not be very competitive) or go all out and invest alot of $$ in a new template / armor.

expect to spend at least 200mil for a mage, 300mil for a dexter for entry level competitive suit.

maybe ask on the trade forum where people play. many of the more serious pvpers dont frequent UO hall or stratics.

Well actually I'm already playing archeage on Kyrios and if you haven't figured it out yet it's clearly a pay to win game. Do the math on weapon crafting alone and you will begin to see the truth. And the labor system is so flawed. It only encourages people to stay logged into the game 24/7. You factor that in with the mmoviper teleporting hacks and the game is destined for failure. If you need further proof just look at how dead the korean servers are as I played those as well. But I'm not here to persuade you, trust me I was once like you, all excited for that game that mimic'd some of the mechanics that I loved about UO. I left UO after the nerf bat hit factions a while back and from what I read the VvV system seems like it should be pretty fun and who knows... I might be bringing enough of my guildies back to west coast shards from the other games we've been playing to make people want to come back and play west coast.

Uhhhm lol, I'll just make my own stuff save maybe a splinter weapon or two. I haven't spent 300m on a suit since 4/6 casting days. But appreciate the heads up.

right on. the loot / suits / templates are actually pretty amazing right now. imbued is pretty much for a filler piece or jewels. reforged is still good but just so expensive if your going for even above average pieces (imo not worth it to burn kits yourself anymore unless your getting them dirt cheap or for nothing) Legendary artifacts from the loot revamp are the name of the game now. amazing archer suits with damage eater / 211 stamina 150hp 120 mana 16mr. 800 skill point mage templates. Its pretty incredible, but can take some time / gold to actually get that top tier stuff.

You can pvp in anything, its all a matter of what your happy playing. I sometimes pick up really nice mage legendaries for like 10mil in luna, but sometimes the perfect 10 stam stuff or legendaries jewels have been going for 300 mil plus easy for one single piece.

Just something to think about, in the last 6 months theres been major "gear inflation" so a 2 year suit might need some updating.

On a smaller shard, you can get by with much less than on Atlantic. But even stuff like EP, on atlc you really need 50 when on smaller shards sometimes mages can get by with none.

I'm not 100% sure as we use a diff vent now but I think she does. The game is still fun and you don't need a uber suit but it helps just like before. I'm having a rather good time just farming stuff to mkae my suits better, PvM is fun and the PvP helps pass the time.

Myself, Smokey, Helmut, Plat, Shay:) and CB but we have new blood and are, at times, rolling a few more from ATL. This last week we have seen 8+ people in vent which is a decent turn out and I have seen a similar number of HWM on. Not much has changed on the server but the VvV is a nice way to get back into the flow of things.

Well good deal, you can look forward to seeing at least a few of us KRY members coming back to the battlefield. Not sure if I can persuade everyone, as some have been enticed by the pretty graphics of GW2 or Archeage.

Been playing since Alfa and its far from pay to win, everything can be gained by putting the effort in or you have the choice of buying APEX to advance faster. Labor has never been a problem for me. I craft a little never let my labor fall under 2k then kill some mobs get into my ship do some pirtating on the high sea which is loads of fun. Get my fishing boat out and do some sports fishing. Do my daily Guilda runs and fit in soe 5v5 areans. Later at night i will run my aged cheese in to a gold merchant then plant some plant/trees for harvesting next day. UO has had hacks in it since day one and still survives.

I'm not here to argue with a fan boy I've clearly played more of that game then you, When you factor in the buffs alone that it requires to compete your drinking down 80 gold a session at the very least, add in delph and it gets even more clear. Is it possible to play archeage and not pay money? Sure, but you'll get wrecked against anyone who does pay money. But none of your comments disprove pay to win. Fact of the matter is that f2p games all eventually become p2w games with bot riddled over inflated markets. And the hacks in uo are measly compared to archeage.

If you're looking for PvP your only big options are Lake Superior & Atlantic. Chesapeake/Great Lakes are 3/4 best. The others I wouldn't bother, I guess it you want an answer Pacific for West would be your best option, but it's pretty dead there like the rest of West.

I also loled at the person who said VvV brought back PvP. That system was popular for the like first three days, and that's only because it was new.

Yeah I messed around with it a bit on pac last night, and it's ok however it seems like stealthers are the fad class for that game. Just group 2 or 3 stealthers and just sync dump anyone who gets close to the altar.

I think it didn't help that they nerfed stealthers so quickly after the release. I was planning to add my thief to the system, from what I've read about the nerf, I never bothered...la

Who told you that "from what you've heard VvV should be fun" ? Please elaborate on what they said for those of us that failed to see any fun in it at all.

Well... fun in comparison I suppose. The reason my entire guild quit was when they nerfed faction points hard and rendered half of my guildies suits useless. It wasn't a big problem for the people who were on all the time but the people who logged on every once in a while would need pointed up and then wait for rank to hit. This eliminates that. Allowing us to do the pvp where we want to pvp such as spawns or harrys, On top of that, one of the biggest griefs that was going on at the time was for people to join the same faction as you, this eliminates that as well. However I do feel they should incorporate both into the game as sigil fights were rare but super fun when they actually happened. Our goal right now though is to give the west coast a little bit of cpr... obviously not a full resuscitation but enough to where people will actually play west coast again. But that's all dependent on if I can persuade my guildies to come back with me. If not I suppose i'll head over to east coast and just play a dexxer.. as low ping mage is doable but frustrating as hell.

Go away troll, it's fun PvP for those who want it. A fast stat timer, the fix of faction arti's(as Kon mentioned), town fighting and the ablity to roll a few shards if you want. Is there a point, not really but there isn't a point to playing this game other than some cheap fun. No one says you have to join VvV, you should but you certainly don't have to.

If you are only there for the deco than I doubt you enjoyed fighing 2+ years back and you never saw the complete wreck that the nerf added to the game. Kon's guild had at least 5+ solid players and payers leave and they played on a small shard, it was much worse on the larger ones. My guild, who fought KRY daily, lost at least the same number as did the other larger guilds on Napa. It was, and still is, depressing to see what that change did.

It's basicly factions with a better timer, just long enough to annoy you but short enough to be back up and fighting.

I have to buy them on ATL and get them transfered now. If you look in the trade forums there is someone doing a run nearly every week.

Your a hellfa negative guy, I never said i was here to argue with you.

I make my own pots so pots are free and anyone going into PvP without the best gear are going to die fast just like UO. Out with my months subs i have paid £14 into the game and i have Dephi weapons and armor. Running 2 accounts i make 360 gold a day with my Schooner (20 trade packs) and aged cheese. with 2 accounts i never run out of labour points. As for the hacking well i have played UO for 17 years and i can tell you straight that UO has been hacked to death. Dupes running rampage in UO over the years. But its the same with any MMO if you expect to play a game without bots and hacks your living in a dream world. When UO came out it was in a far worse state than Archeage is, but UO has matured into what it is now. Its just a shame that 90% of teh shards are dead for PvP in UO these days. I still have 2 active UO accounts but i find very little to draw me back onto playing anything more than a few hours a week now.

Its pretty obvoius trawling all the 27 shards [my world tour]...there are 5 groups of shards

1. highest populous... by a country mile is Atlantic...[housing market is still bouyant although slowing down and vendor shops/markets litter the land even malas is well well used]

2. above average populous...4 shards Great Lakes and Chessy in the west and Asuka and Yamato in the east... [castles are sought after and pay high...even placing a keep is hard, more likely to have to buy one in tram and lots of vendors/shops....even life in malas on these 4 shards!!]

3. average populous shards...Euro, Pacs, Cats, Lake superior, Siege[maybe], Napa in the west and Hokuto, Mizuho in the east...[castle are all taken/placed but some often come on the market but prices are fair and its easy to place a keep in tram/fel, the shopping are just ok but malas is looking bleak indeed.

4. below average populous... baja, legends, sonama, drachs and lake austin in the west and inzumo, wakaku, formosa and sakura in the east...[ these shards have a few castle spots free for placing at most times and castle sell really cheap if not, keeps are extremely easy to place even in trammel, less shops and vendors than the average populous shards and malas is pretty well green wastelands.

5. dying shards... [sorry] ...Origin in the west and in the east Airang ,Balahe, Mugden and Oceania...[loads of castle spots free, pretty well castle only and luna shards these- even spots in luna on some, not many shops and malas is simply empty]
