Coming back to UO

Hey everyone. I'm coming back to UO and want to roll on Atlantic, but not sure what template to go with. I know I want to do something combat related. I'm thinking a Paladin. I haven't played the game in quite a while.

Is there a combat template that can solo any of the champs? Maybe I'll do some kind of fishing/archer, even.

I've heard about the sampire, but honestly, Bushido doesn't really interest me.

I'm going to be purchasing a mythical character token, so I'll be able to start at 5x90.

I can't decide what I want to do.

I guess now would be a good time to say I will also be looking for an active guild on Atlantic that frequently has PVM events as well.

im an (old)noob and to begin i started with sword and shield and go to combat. nothing else.
I suggest you, as others have done to me, to play and play more.
maybe a little skill with magery help in some situation, i have 70 chiv for heal and some useful ability, but istn my prerogative. i have healing also.
heal with chiv and with healing make me more hard to die.
my target build is:

Anatomy 100
Healing 100
Tactics 100
Sword 120
Parrying 120
Chiv 70
Res Spell 90

I read some guide, but my ideas are changed every time i played.
I read a template, think to build that and when i tried it, i changed.
Make what u feel to play. There is not hurry to build perfect char
Im noob and guide help you but dont answer at all question u need.

I've recently returned myself with a brand new account and so here's some tips I have for you.

1) Get into an active guild with plenty of people. This helps for general knowledge as UO has become so large it's can be daunting on what to do next.
2) If you use a mythic char token my suggestion would be to use it on a tamer. These guys are viable very quickly after the token when you get a GD and +taming jewelry and they are a lot harder to gain in skills
3) Gen chat has been helpful but ignore the idiots. Like in all mmo's UO has it's share of idiots but I've found the community to still be better than most other mmo's
4) Don't let the economy scare you. Somethings that use to cost a few hundred gold now cost millions. Look for niches in the economy that sell well and you'll have enough money to work with.
5) Housing is not as competitive as it use to be. So be patient and you can get a max storage customized house for free or cheap.
6) learn about useful websites. Stratics is great but I also use uoguide.com for a wiki like knowledge base. Along with knuckleheads and uocraft for various calculators.
