Coming back after long break, really need some advice...

Hi Everyone,

I'm coming back to UO after a very long break. (My last game code was Renaissance). It's like starting over and I'm a little overwhelmed.

I was very used to the 2d client and UOAssist and UAAutoMap (my accounts are from 98). Do people still use that? Is the 3D client that much better? When I left, 3D was new and not very good or attractive.

Also, I've done some searching, does anyone know how I can DL the two clients - I have all the licensing codes - but no installs.

Last but not least, any good places for me to start re-educating myself? I recall in the past, there were a lot of outdated sites for info - are any being actively maintained?

You can use both clients on same PC. You have to see what you like best. both have likes and dislikes.

If you use EC client, then try it with Pinco's UO. Pinco's UI

Welcome back!

There's a big opinion war between 2d (called classic client or CC) and 3d (enhanced client or EC). EC has better macros and menus, a hotbar, better maps than CC, but things don't always look right and the creature art seems to be better in CC (my opinion).

UO Stratics is regularly updated, as is UOGuide.com. UO's official site has been lacking for sometime.
Check the guides in each skill forum, they're stickied and extremely helpful, as well as the essays on Stratics. They'll give the best ways to gain.

I have old characters but to re-learn the game, I'm going to start a new one from scratch. The online resources will be a big help. There's so much more to the game now!!!

Hi, hope you have fun and aye there's tonnes of new stuff to get a grip on, it's gonna blow your mind lol. When you get chance it might be worth having a read of Players Corner here on Stratics, lots of returnees seem to post there and one of the stickies UO Tips! | Stratics Forums has some great tips and info in it. I live on Europa, Legends and Atlantic if you get stuck call out for Lucy and I'll see if I can help, I'm a massive noob but I usually can find the answer to things heh.
