Your rescue story reminded me of one lil kitten who's life I did manage to save yrs. ago.
I worked as night auditor for Comfort Inns and Suites back then.
A wild feline had given birth, to a litter of kitties, in our hotel area pool's sorta garden area.
The owner of the hotel kept tryin to get them, to get them out of there, cuz it was a busy area traffic wise and well he wasn't fond of cats anyhow.

Unfortunately one night on my shift, the mother cat opted to begin training her litter to hunt.
Course her concept of finding food for them all, was to cross the busy street to the McDonald's dumpsters
full of customers unchewed burgers and filets of fish. It was my unfortunate shift that enabled me to see,
the horror of one mother cat and 5 of her 6 kittens get run over by a car that night. GOD I will never forget that night.
But one lil kitten of hers for some reason, did not follow her mother cat and siblings that night.
I heard this crying from the parking lot outside, as that horrid event had happened, there was one tiny lil kitten all alone crying meowing, and I went out there to try to find the survivor.
I found her, wild as can be about scratched my eyes out to even try to pick her up to save her.
I got a box, put her in it and took her into the hotel lobby. The owner come at 7am and did a WTF ?
I told him what happened to the rest and that, sorry his hotel lobby was with an animal atm but I was gonna take her home and try to make her tame and save her life.
Hubby thought this is NOT gonna work we had 3 dogs and one cat at the time, they would not accept that stray. Took em a half a year to even like her, but once they all did, it worked out fantastically.
So here is a photo of the kitten I named: *Precious*
She wasnt much to look at per say, but I loved her anyhow & saved her tiny precious lil life from that horrible night she lost her mother and siblings. She got along so well finally in the end with our 3 dogs and 1 cat we had at that time, that after ours all passed away but her, we lost her anyhow, she refused to eat ever again.
But we managed to give her life several more years of happiness till she lost the only 2nd animal family she had known .. of our other pets. We had asked the vets, animal behaviorists etc. anything we could to try to get her to eat again after she was once again the sole survivor, after her 2nd family of pets, had all passed away due to just old age. The vets said, nothing we could do, sadly, animals too, may go into mourning, like some humans do, and just decide they do not want to eat to go on living any longer without their *mates* or friends.
That lil cat, became the *seeing eye* cat for our terripoo that had gone nearly blind after yrs. of living, and our terripoo, Precious would lead down the hallway and around the house, as if leading the blind. It was unbelievable the bonds/trust, they & she had made with our 3 dogs and one cat, we had brung her life, into. Once her other 2nd *pet family* was gone, she just did not want to go on living or eating anymore.

Didnt seem to matter she still had us humans that loved her too.
I still think of her yrs. later one lil 'precious dumpling' a life I did manage to save, once upon a time. Actually most of the pets we have ever owned even pure breeds, were about all rescue animals lost or abandoned like trash by whomever had em first.

We took em all in over the years.
