Collecting Gold with a Sampire

I've been killing Miasmas to collect gold and items to unravel with my sampire. I'm finding it awfully crowded in Labryinth (Atlantic) and I'm sharing the spawn most of the time. That means my gold collecting is about half of what it could be. Are there any other Mondain's Legacy named monsters that give nearly the same loot and are of equal difficulty for a sampire that might be a little bit quieter?

Just looking for alternatives while I farm so I can buy better gear. Thanks!

Maybe Bedlam, the spiders in Weald and most of the stuff in Sanctury. All the named monsters seem to give pretty much the same loot.

Spiders in the Weald are, in my opinion, a lot easier and a lot more profitable than Miasma (based on relics per hour).

Gnaw is always a good one to go after. No one really thinks about it, it's fairly easy as a non caster, and drops good gold.

I love hunting in the weald. The spiders are definitely the way to go. I can 3 or 4 shot them with a slayer.

The only problem is they spawn so fast. There are so many other nasties back there that I usually try to sit in the corner. At some point it becomes a pain in the ass to loot the corpses because they die on top of each other. If only it was more spread out and you could single the spiders out I would probably farm them all day long.

I usually end up just luring any of the named mobs I see down toward the alter and take em one at a time. Most people don't bother coming in the back because they are content with swoops. Rarely do I have to share the spawn on catskills or great lakes.

Yeah, I'm looking for something that I can loot and have to share less. Miasma worked ok. I could pull her just outside her lair so I could kill and loot everything (gold, all the armor & weapons to unravel). But it was constant tag teaming with the hordes of people that came to see her as well. I'm going to try Gnaw first and see how that works. If that doesn't fit, I'll move further in the weald for the Spiders. I might as well get to know the place as DH is on the future to-do list. I just need to save up to upgrade a few armor pieces and get a Crimson Cincture. Then I think I'll be ready to start practice on the Paragon Cu Sidhe and Paragon Balron.

A macro for Last Object will help you when the corpses start to stack up, if the corpse is stacked you get a system message saying 'you must wait to perform another action' when you double click the corpse name. Close the corpse that pops up and hit Last Object and it'll open the right one.

I seem to remember Gnaw being really easy with a Winds Edge (Macing) 100% Energy Damage or a Luminous Rune Blade (Swords). Not that it isn't easy normally just that it saves you casting Consecrate.

My Atlantic sampire is a mace fighter. I appreicate the recommendation on the weapons. I'll probably grab a diamond mace with high energy damage, DI, and SSI. I think I have one of those from my last burn of copper & bronze hammers. Then I'll have a friend imbue HML and HSL to make it workable.

I take it the best way to get through the changelings is to equip a shield, and then fight the normal way (honor, EOO, CW), just like the recommendation for the named changelings?

I think the distances and the changelings are leading me back to Miasma. I killed Swoop without a bird slayer talisman. Without the Talisman, she took longer than Miasma, but wasn't really any harder. The loot was identical. I'll try the Weald again tonight.

I have to run in and out very often to drop off loot to unravel. So I am back to Miasma. I burned a dc hammer and got an exceptional diamond mace with just 30 SSI and 40 DI. I POFed it to 255/255 and I'm having it imbued with scorpion slayer, HML, and HSL. That should work nice.

I can't believe noone mentioned thrasher. I have made Millions off thrasher and being a sampire you can appreciate beign able to use Reptile Slayers. He about a 4 hit kill and I think he drops way more marties than Miasma. Only irritation is the bone machetes.

I looked in the UO Hunters Guide here on stratics about those spiders and noticed that they cast Lethal Poison (lvl 5). Won't that kill a sampire real quickly? I always thought that you could resist the poisonings if they were Levels 1 - 4.

How would a sampire cure lethal poison?

Thanks!

Because some of us are uber cool like Lynk and run heal/anat on their sampires!

Or because some of us are cooler and just ignore the poison. We don't need no healing skill!

You typically do so much damage you simple heal through it until it gone. The spiders spawn so fast that as one dies the next is up and it's a constant damage balance.

Cleanse by Fire works. You may just have to cast it a lot of times... And hope you don't run out of mana. Once I am poisoned I ignore it until I finish killing the monster and then I deal with it. You leech back enough hit points to ignore it. Miasma also hits you with level 5 poison.

Cleanse by Fire works great with high karma, but even that's not necessary, typically the damage from LP is barely noticed, just leech through it.

I must say I have changed my mind: Lissith and Sabrix are nice but crossing the desert is a pain and, if I die, the walk to the ankh and back is just too annoying.
The absolute best place to farm gold, fame and honor is... Bedlam! I know it sounds crazy but I promise you: if you have the conjurer's trinket and keep near the entry gate, you can lure the enemies one (well, a few) at a time and kill them rather fast (especially with whirlwind). Just be careful of the patchwork skeletons, as their dismount special is annoying and dangerous, and try not to have them all on you at the same time.
Anyway - the named guys all give named spider level loot, they are susceptible to undead slayer AND you can leave the place and come back without ever wasting a dot of honor. Cool, eh? =)
