Codex of Virtue not re-deeding

I wanted to move my codex of virtue, so naturally I took an axe to it. But instead of ending up with a deed in my backpack, I'm just chopping apart my codex.


Am I doing something wrong?

I believe this is an old problem, not sure if it has been fixed with the newer claimed ones. My only advice is to keep chopping it and go get another one.
