Cloaks and Threads ummm Thread!

So I just thought it seemed awfully odd we get cloaks AND thread and we are supposed to choose a loyalty.

Now stay with me for a sec. What if the thread is actually going to be used with the cloak you have a choice in the matter life or fate and once the thread is used on the cloak it becomes something different.

Just sounds like this may be where we are going with all of this but hey I could be wrong lol.

The Threads are interesting, but they don't drop nearly enough. It seemed I was only able to get them in the morning and then they just stopped dropping no matter how many Dark Wisps I took down. And, the Cloak is a bloody pain to get because there are just so many people and I can't afford black rock and I'm not nearly the top damager.

Is this only in Trammel? Logged on for a minute and didn't see anyone is Moonglow.

For what its worth. If you don't have blackrock you have a very very slim chance of getting a cloak now.

I realise lots got them earlier, but now every shadow lord I see, gets hit by several people with black rock, Each use does 25K+ damage (wish i had got a screen shot of just how much)

Anyway, now that more people know how to cast armmageddon....it aint gonna be easy for the rockless to get cloaks

Yeah, I posted this exact theory last night

some of my observations so far...

The cloaks are pretty easy to get if you have BR. Pretty much anyone who's determined should be able to get one.

The threads drop off the easiest monster in the invasion, but are a pretty uncommon drop.

There are 3 different art sets for each thread, so to have a complete set of threads of fate and a complete set of threads of life, you need to have 6 unique threads.

I'm getting a few more threads of life than I am threads of fate. So far I have 53% more threads of life than threads of fate. This leads me to believe that threads have a 50% higher likelihood to be threads of life. (see pic... threads of fate on the left. Threads of life on the right)

You can see the 3 different imagesets used for threads in the screenshot. That's why I posted it. You can also see that I'm getting more life ones than fate ones.

So anyway... My theory is that you'll need a full set of one type of threads in order to upgrade one of the robes.

I think the alignment choice we have to make has to do with factions. I suspect that a faction crafter will be required to upgrade the robes. I sure hope not, though. Some of us want cool robes without being in factions...

I like the idea but Draconi in a post somewhere else on the forums.
It says: <blockquote><hr>

8. Loyalties?
Some have already chosen, more will be given a choice directly, and most can simply align themselves to the cause they feel is their own.

[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe some are already doing what you suggested or maybe it's something else.

These cloaks, what do they drop from? People say Shadow lords, I've been at the event since it started on Europa and never even seen one! How do they look? Where in the town do they spawn?

Good to know there is a 3rd positioning of the thread. It is getting hard to get them on LS since most of the dark wisps are off in the woods in together. Most people are near the gate and fence trying to keep the spawn away.

It all has been fun though, havent died this much in months.

Sorry I didn't know that would happen. How can avoid doing that in the future?

The threads call to mind the Codex Symbol, though we'd need a couple of rings to complete it.

Hail,
No problem.
Just take the link you have in mind, for example: 'http://www.xxxsuperlonglinkxxx.com' and write *:
{url=http://www.xxxsuperlonglinkxxx.com}Super Long Link{/url}

* Except the "{ &amp; }" symbols must be "[ &amp; ]" symbols instead.

It will display as: Super Long Link
Rather than expanding the thread's width.

As well, this is covered in the quite helpful Stratics' FAQ

Yup, they appear in your backpack if you're one of the top damagers of the Shadowlord. When they spawn, the location must be random. The 4 I have seen spawned in different places. I'd say they look like an ethereal Harrower in humanoid form.

I saw 2 tonight and they appeared within a couple hours of each other, though it could be quicker and I just missed one in between. Someone has speculated they spawn after a certain amount of spawns have been killed.

What if the threads are some type of symbol rather than a practical item. Look at the symbology, ties that bind, two types of thread and two sides to choose from.

Has anyone noticed Chyloth the ferryman and the Time Lord are both in Moonglow? Maybe when the next phase kicks in maybe we will have to give them the appropriate threads.

Threads of life to the Time Lord to seal the moongate

Threads of fate to Chyloth to have a repeat of Magincia

In some mythology, like Greek, wasn't there some god/goddess that had threads and when it was time for someone to die they just cut the thread and that was it for the person?

Anybody know where I'm going with this? I don't know how else I can explain it. I'm still on my first cup of coffee.
Just an idea I had after reading some posts.

I only got 6 threads but I also got 3 of Fate and 3 of Life. I looted then in the order you see late last night on Sonoma. Three threads of fate, the Cloak, three threads of Life. Did not get any extras or spares except for the Planeswords-shields.

Nothing to do with threads or cloaks (maybe) but did anyone notice some "Dragon Arms" on the floor next to the bank in the alternate Moonglow? They're not movable, hadn't seen them before.

Where are the ferryman and the other person you were talking about?

Speculation is always fun I am itching to find out the meaning of all of this stuff though and I have a felling it is going to be a few weeks at the least before it all unravels and makes any sense.

Yeah i believe it was three "witches" called collectively Moirae. I looked it up and their names were :
Clotho- who spun the threads
Lachesis - who measured the threads
Atropos - who cut the threads

hmm if there's only three timelords (god everytime i see that i think Dr Who) then maybe this is another piece in the puzzle?? Also from what I read not even the gods were safe from them.

Oh, these weren't easy to get

MANY times I had to kill upwards of 5+ wisps in a single grouping, which naturally was dangerous and resulted in my death on occasion.

That is a very interesting point...

I wonder if we'll be able to embroider the codex symbol onto our robes to make them into another item

that would take 6 threads, though. I guess then it would really mean something to have an embroidered robe. 2 of each thread.

The big ring could be a special container, which you add the threads to. The little rings could be some new drop we haven't seen yet (or something so small that we missed it)

Either way, the threads are dropping so infrequently that I think they are important.

I'm on Chessy and the Time Lord when I posted before was next to the corrupted moongate. Since then there is a big crater again and I ran around Moonglow and haven't seen him.

Chyloth is in the reagent shop of the real Moonglow. Clicking on him or trying to hand him threads doesn't do anything. Not sure if he won't do anything until the next phase maybe?

Thanks Valen, I thought it was Greek. Just another possible idea for the thread's use.
Only time will tell though.

A group of people discovered that you get a system message if you have spirit speak on your character and you double click the threads.

This doesn't necessarily rule out these theories (why else would there be 3 unique graphics for threads?), but it implies that spirit speak has something to do with the threads.

What is it that is uplifted by your virtues or bears the burdens of your sins? Your immortal soul, perhaps? Who are the characters who best understand the soul and can speak to souls, even when they are disembodied? Spiritualists (Spirit Speakers)!

So here are some questions I pose. Will this be tied in to the virtues gump at all? Will having levels in those virtues play any part in this or future events? If so, does this mean the other virtues will be implemented?

I just thought of something re-reading the posts. Cyloth has been hanging around moonglow almost since doom was created. I would kinda be surprised if he had too much to do with this set of events.

Does anyone know how long this event will last or how long the shadow lords with spawn in ehtereal form ?
I just want to know if I have to quit sleeping the next two nights or if I have enough time to try to get a cloak over the week or the coming weekend.

I remember that I sent in a bug report that the Ferry man is a little bit off his normal place and I also called GMs to tell them about it. That was a month or two after the launch of AoS.
The answer I got was that they will move him to his original place soon. And you all know what "soon" means when it comes from an EA employee.

Chyloth normally hangs out in glow but when you ring the bell in doom you ever notice he was summoned to you? This is because he normally resides in moonglow until his day job beckens.

I doubt he actually has anything to do with the event however you never can tell with things like this.

Thanks, what about Aegis the Archmage? Never noticed him before in the reagent shop.

Also has anyone noticed:
<ul> [*]Drop in spawn of threads?[*]Using BR doesn't deal damage to the Shadow Lord [/list]

Makes it harder for us that don't have maxed skills to try for a cloak with the BR not working anymore. At least on Chessie this morning it wasn't working.

Of course I got one
and am out of BR
so it doesn't affect me too much, other than it's harder to take the SL down now. Just wanted to see if anyone else noticed and give a heads up so ppl don't waste it, I'm not sure if it still disappears though either being it seems not to work.
