Cloak of Corruption is AWESOME!

Just got a Cloak of Corruption off a Shadowlord with my Stealth Assassin, and decided to mess around with Meers in Ilsh. Each time the Cloak leeched Life/Stamina from me, it replenished my Mana. I was able to chain AI to death a Meer Eternal with my Vorpal Blade, when this char only has 70 Mana/25% LMC, 6 MR, 40.0 Focus. Normally, i wouldn't of been able to do that, but with the Cloak on i could. It's like infinite mana at the cost of Life/Stamina. Went down to 1 Health from it leeching and it also brough me down to 1 Stamina/1 Mana, but as soon as my bandy applied and healed me, Health, Stamina and Mana went back up.

Guess they didn't listen to the "horribly unbalanced to the point it's game-breaking" comments a year ago.

It also has the side effect of making animals/monsters/NPCs around attack you randomly. Now i know why the thing is Cursed, it's incredibly powerful.

eh I dont find it horribly unbalanced at all. Especially in PvP - maybe in PvM it could prove to be useful but I doubt horribly unbalanced. Will have to test it to be sure.

If it's cursed, ie: it cannot be insured, then it'll never be a pvp item (well, donno about Siege, but yeah).

Im guessing the event will last a week or two so hopefully everyone will collect a few of the cloaks....btw the cloak is a cursed arti... which kinda kmaes it pretty useless for using - more of a decor item methinks.....

Hint...Dont buy one yet........... lol....

And on siege you can't even get them because nobody can kill the SLs!

Does it still lower your karma?? Test it in *both* worlds........it has some...interesting effects.

I have yet to get one as I was incredibly laggy on Origin last night, rezzed a million people, died once, didn't get a chance to kill anything, my guildies gave me a sword and shield THANK YOU LISA! But haven't been able to test the cloak yet.

well, I have been testing the cloak, and while my guildmates might hate me, its very strong. While wearing it it leeches hps and stamina from you, but it gives a huge boost in replenishing your mana.

Finally after figuring this out ive actually had fun with my paladin archer. He was already nerfed with 1/2 strength bows and mana suits, at least now shes having much fun since her mana is kept up. A perfect item for a paladin. Healing keeps hps up, spell keeps stamina up, and mana is the only thing im ever short on.

Yes this is too powerful though everyone will hate saying it. You can chain special moves all day. Imagine someone in pvp chaining armor ignores 30 in a row. (if it works in pvp good). Or sitting there chaining concussion blows on monsters.

Your right, it would seem that not even THIS Dev team have learned from the mistakes made in the past............

...for an item that is cursed, it would not do much for pvp considering once you die someone else will loot it. And for an item that keeps lowering your hp, and thus increasing your mana ONLY IN A FIGHT, I would not consider it unbalanced.

I just tested it.. everytime I lose like 3-5 HP with the cloak.. I gain between 70-80ish mana back on my mage

okay.. it's resetting my mana to between 110-120.. even at 158 mana, I lose mana..

okay... another change.. it seems to drain mana, unless you are REALLY low on mana, which it greatly refreshes it.

don't forget.. when you are getting your butt whooped... it can replace massive health also.

I just tested it myself ... I really doubt it's working as intended. I was at near-zero mana with full health and stamina, put the Cloak on and hit a harpy a single time with a mundane skinning knife, and regained ~80 mana. Took the Cloak off again afterwards.

Seems ... silly.

IMO, it should be nerfed for PvM sake regardless and probably PvP too. Being Cursed just means it's going to change hands ... so, everyone will take turns being a killing machine with unlimited mana. Oh, and in PvM, everyone will just have unlimited mana with no risk to show for it.

I have 15HPR on my character that has the Cloak. There's hardly any downside to it (just cancels out the health loss, I'm not gaining but I'm at least not losing), and I have quite literally unlimited mana. That's hardly balanced! Even without the HPR, you just need to cast an additional heal spell every few seconds, or pre-cast a Gift of Renewal. :|

Sure, as soon as monsters have the same mana pools as players, the same casting speed as players, the same hit points as players, etc, etc, etc.

Enough with the damn nerf PvM crap already.

I understand that you're upset about the state of affairs in PvM and how there are so few 'viable' templates, but I don't think giving every single player access to infinite mana is the solution.

It did Regain Mana when i was fighting a Meer Eternal Paragon earlier, but as soon as he killed me (Had him almost dead), my Cloak of Corruption seems to have lost it's Mana Regain capability. So in other words, if you're about to die, take off your Cloak of Corruption, otherwise it will lose it's Mana Regain power. Not sure if it's permanent. Right now, my Cloak of Corruption is nothing more than a drain on my Health/Stamina/Mana.

Well, that was interesting... we seem to have a new problem. People don't want to finish the Shadowlord. I hit him first, someone else hit him, and then a 3rd. He was then standing by himself... redlined... and nobody came in to finish.

Long story short, we lost total control of the gate... and it took 25 minutes before we formed a formal charge, got in and finished him.

So this spell is awesome, but if folks know they're going to get something... they hit and run... and nobody wants to do the last piece of damage.

I didn't experiment with it much, but for me... it drained my Health and my Mana (left my stamina alone).

I'm negative karma and was in Trammel.. not sure if it effects differently in Felucca.

Hey i just got one of these and did a quick test on my necro (seeing as the threads respond to them). It seemed that in each form one of the drains was slightly lessened. In Vampiric Embrace form it didnt drain stamina on me at all. Just figured i would toss this out for speculation. maybe some others can test it too.

Maybe thats because VE has 14 stam regen?
