City Trade Deals - which look most appealing?

In the upcoming city elections for Governor, the trade deals system as mentioned in http://uo2.stratics.com/posts/39108 should be arriving - and I have no clue which of those might be considered 'most appealing' to people, so of the following ones, which strike you as worth having (and why, if possible)?

  • Trade Deals Include:
    • Guild of Arcane Arts: +5% Spell Damage Increase
    • Society of Clothiers: +1% Resist bump to all resists
    • Bardic Collegium: +1 Faster Casting
    • Order of Engineers: +3 Dexterity Bonus
    • Guild of Healers: 5% Bandage Healing Bonus
    • Maritime Guild: +2 Hit Point Regeneration
    • Merchant’s Association: +2 Mana Regeneration
    • Mining Cooperative: +3 Strength Bonus
    • League of Rangers: +3 Intelligence Bonus
    • Guild of Assassins: +5% Swing Speed Increase
    • Warrior’s Guild: +5% Hit Chance Increase
  • Buffs will not go over caps

Guild of Arcane Arts: +5% Spell Damage Increase for Hex.

For my archer and sampire, not sure between
  • Guild of Assassins: +5% Swing Speed Increase
  • Warrior’s Guild: +5% Hit Chance Increase

Guild of Healers: 5% Bandage Healing Bonus for my tamer.

Not sure about the rest of my characters, haven't looked into it all that much.

I don't believe the Healing bonus will apply to tamers, as that uses the Vetinary skill rather than the Healing skill (and Vetinary doesn't get any bonus from Enchanted Bandages either)

+1 faster Casting FTW... it's 140 imbuing weight and you could theoretically build a mage suit around having this buff..
I did wonder about that, as it's such a high imbuing cost, but I'd be reluctant to make a suit around it since it would depend on the town Governor repeatedly making that same trade agreement, and that might not work out...

Well.. I forget what city loyalty you need to be a citizen but isn't it 20k wood for adored.. so I figure it would be less to switch your loyalty to a different city who DID offer the + 1 Faster Casting. Someone should.....

You can't easily switch City Loyalty as there's a 1 week real time delay before you can accept a new one.

Regarding the buff, don't forget that like Virtues and Loyalty, the amount of money in the city coffers decays....

  • Trade deals cost 2,000,000gp from funds obtained from the City Treasury.
  • The City Treasury can be donated to by dropping gold or checks on the City Herald near each City Stone.
  • The City Treasury is subject to a daily 5% reduction above 10,000gp to pay for general City Services.
  • Trade deals can be changed once per real world week and persist indefinitely.
  • Citizens may utilize the trade deal for 24 hours by visiting the City Stone and selecting “Utilize Trade Deal” from the context menu.
Which means someone has to donate at least 2m for the Treasury to be able to take one bonus, then 7 days later which is the earliest it can be changed, if you wished to change it, my sums make it that there will be 1,396,675 gold left on the stone, so another 600,000k donation to do so.
However the way I read the above is that if you don't want to change it, the buff should stay for as long as the Governor holds office... a 5% reduction in theory lasts longer above zero gold than the Governmental term, so even if lack of gold cancels it, that shouldn't be triggered.

BUT... apart from voting on someone who promises too give that buff, you have no way to ensure it is passed. It's entirely down to the individual's discretion. Despite claiming they would, the Devs have not announced any way in which Governors can yet be recalled or forced from office. Furthermore, I don't believe it's possible to see who donated what to the stone; Thus you can drop the 2m check, or however much you like directly onto the stone as a Citizen but how it's spent is out of your hands.
If multiple people have contrasting needs, I suspect this will prove a considerable headache, and provide much badgering and claims of bias at Blackthorn's meetings, unless all the Mayors get together and decide to offer one unique buff so people can pick and choose... which in turn ruins roleplay, because those players may want to hold to a more lore focused approach wouldn't find it popular to do; Moonglow as the city of mages may want to focus purely on mage related buffs, but it may not fit for those who see Moonglow as their home but main a warrior. And if all 16 towns go for FC1, you're completely stuffed.

As a candidate for Yew Trammel, On Europa then; My official position on the buff is....

I don't have one, as such, and have no intention to pay for it myself. It's not why I'm running; I simply wish to be Mayor of the city I love, and provide a way for those who wish to improve the involvement of roleplay in EM events in the future, by being a focus through which people can get their voices heard in game. I want to take the seat next to Blackthorn so I can bring up any issues people have.... my campaign is that I basically plan to take the position seriously.

I will try and set up a weekly evening "Surgery Session" people can pop by too and express their thoughts for Yew.

There will be no special Titles given, unless future EM events require raising of Militias or something which justifies them. The City of Justice shall be a meritocracy, and by your own deeds will you raise your own name alone. Personally I only have an Earl title to show visibly an association with the City at present, but that's open to all who want to put down the money for one. There shall not be any in game favouritism though.

I strongly recommend people don't drop any money onto the Yew stone unless they know the actual winner and whether they can be trusted to use it in accord with your wishes; if I were to personally win in Yew... Hmmm. Tough one to make a commitment on. My view is that, within 2-3 days of being elected, I hope people will contact me in game or via leaving a book at my home for what buffs they want in Yew, and if there's a clear interest in a particular one, I'll agree to ensuring it's chosen once the donation level is reached. There isn't really a clear Lore related buff for Yew (Ranger perhaps is closest, but there's nothing animal, nature or Druidic listed) which perhaps would have been my own inclination to campaign on. If the GRD were still in Yew in force, I'd have possibly have gone for a Warrior theme to support their roleplay rules. As it is... I'm not ashamed to stand up and say; Buggered if I know what's the best choice! But once it's chosen, I don't plan to change it because it will open up the Pandora's Box of trying to work out just who has spent what. For the sake of less squabbling, I prefer then a quick check of who lives in Yew and what they want, and the result of that will be where Yew's funding goes for my term.

True, and I've been thinking the same thing, but many people already maxed out FC on their existing suits, so it will only help a few min-maxers.

I run with protection. Does that drop FC to 0, or can you overcap it?
You cannot overcap; with Protection your FC will never go above 0.

(a good reason to choose the SDI bonus is that SDI is uncapped in PvM, so any PvM caster will benefit from the bonus without having to rebuild their current suit)

Well all you have to do is sign up with Trinsic and vote for the right candidate then :)
Ow boy, I don't think I could go through raising town loyalty again. Hex is loyal to Moonglow, my disco tamer is loyal to Trinsic I think, and he hardly ever casts.

Just wondering, what do you need loyalty for? All citizens benefit from the buff regardless of loyalty as far as I know. You'll lose your titles if you change towns, though. :(

I haven't looked into it much, so I could be wrong; but I thought you needed atleast low level of loyalty to a town to be considered a citizen?

No no, being a citizen is effortless, you need the loyalty to purchase titles and banners.

Citizen is just a question of declaring for a city, with the 7 day timer for a change, no reputation is required. Banners can be placed at the first loyalty level, so hand in 4000 fish steaks to display; That's how I decorated my home with all the virtue city banners; raised 3 to purchase, swapped those 3 cities for the other 4, handed in fish on the 4 characters I had left.
