Christmas Candles - anyone bother to collect them?

i was cleaning up and i noticed i had never did anything with any of the candles i got for christmas, which is odd because i usually try to get a complete set of anything they give out.

so i went and checked 6 shards and recorded all the colors that i got..... OMG is it even possible to get all the colors?!?!?!?!??!!?

ive got 80 different colors between the hues 1-130
so im assuming that its possible to get all 130 colors?

that is a little outside my collect-ability i think.

did anyone else try to collect the candles or gather data on hues and such?

Doubt anyone would bother collecting candles, or for that matter boxes. Too many colors to really be bothered with and even the multi - toned ones were hardly eye catching enough to float my boat at all lol.

I wish the devs would get back to creating gift collections really worth having. Stuff like the original snow globes where exodus snow globe was rare, or the shrines where chaos was rare, then you had common ones etc, mini houses where the aim was to get keeps and castles, holiday bells where you had 8 -10 colors where the white or ice colors were rare, or the colored busts with common to rare names, still to this day I have never been able to get the 'full set' etc. Where the collection was based on common, semi-rare, rare and rarest and the collections didn't number 60-70 or more items for a set but stuck with a realistic 6-15 or so and had a definite rarity value.

The way gifts have been the last few years, you get like a whole bunch of stuff that is gonna end up in the 'clean up' bin, if it lasts more than a few weeks after the giving it is amazing. You may get ONE rare thing, eg 1 gold harpsichord among the other 10 or so common colors so that they are all pretty much worthless and the ONE color is the only one 'worth' getting. Certainly not a collection as such, or one 'infested' tree in amongst the other gazillion bits of common deco on that gift giving, dye tubs by the gazillion, sands of sosaria etc. At least the sands were dated by year so you could aim to at least keep a set from 1997 to 2013 or whatever.

This past xmas with candles and claw baths and lobsters, what a let down and another missed opportunity to provide the collectors out there with something worthy of collection, instead of 130 hued candles why not 12 with a graded level of rareness, I would strive for the whole collection but with a bunch of common candles they all become just so many lockdowns headed for the bin.

I miss the fact that certainly in the past 5 or so years there really has been nothing to 'collect' other than the one rare in a bunch of dross. Sure, I keep one of everything but unless there is a challenge in getting a collection, the stuff is just that, stuff. I love getting gifts, don't get me wrong, but I just hate the fact that there are so many opportunities to make them nice collections but alas, we get 75 varieties of something or worse, 130 or so as in the candles, nothing of which you could actually call a collection. I love the gifts that were practical, ie soul stone frags, heritage tokens, even the sot and alacrity books, wall signs etc and gifts that are truly collectable. We are all lock-down poor, and I for one hate getting a bunch of stuff that is novel for one second and then tossed in the bin. If you can't sell a gift on a vendor for more than 10k or it ends up in the bin before the week is out then in my view it was a badly designed gift.

yikes!

knew there was a reason i didnt collect the candles.
i pulled a full set of lobsters, that will have to do i guess.
im not about to waste 136 lockdowns on candles or another 136 lockdowns on boxes.

I've never been much of a collector really. Certain items catch my eye. Like the city snowglobes. The only one I REALLY wanted (and got thanks to a friend) was Moonglow since I lived there from nearly day one of my adventure until I eventually moved into a house with more than one room. I still bank there because it's quiet and it's where I go to collect reagents.

Last year, I started a house renovation (it's still not quite right) and I found those Sands of Sosaria I think we got for the 15th anniversary celebration? That got me to thinking that I needed to collect them all and display them on shelves. And that lead me to think that it's gonna cost me. I have 6 characters. Total. And I think I might have missed one since I only have 5 hour glasses. Two are duplicates. But it gave me something to consider collecting that means something to me.

Most of the old time players I know have something (or many things) they collect.
