chiv vs healing pvp

hey guys,

first post here so bare with me...

i'm a returning player who's getting back into the game, but i need some help with a template. i'm looking to make my rp toon a little more capable in the pvp aspect. im trying to get resist into my template but having trouble trying to fit it. here it is my current so far:

715 cap [i know it doesnt add up right now, im training some things up]
105 bushido
115 swords
100 parry
110 anat
110 tacts
85 healing
80 chiv

like i said i want to fit resist in there, im thinking of dropping healing for it [mostly because hes always been a paladin and im trying not to drop chiv if i dont have to] my question is will chiv be enough to manage poisons and healing or will i regret dropping healing? or should i drop tacts or anat?

also some advice on what kind of weapon mods i should be looking for would be AWESOME.

thanks in advance.

Obviously, it's ideal to have healing, anat, and chiv, as they compliment one another very well. That said, if you don't make room on your template for resist, you'll either a) have to carry trap boxes (which get looted) or b) be a sitting duck.

You can make straight chiv work for heals and poisons. However, it is vital that you have 4 faster casting and 6 faster cast recovery (4/6). This means wearing an ornament of the magician (2/3), a 1/3 ring, and using weapons with 1 fc. Unfortunately, there's really no getting around this requirement for chiv healing, but with 4/6, you might be pleasantly surprised at how well it works.

Here's another possibility to consider. Since you'll have bush/parry, you'll be able to carry a one-handed weapon, which means chugging pots. If you rely on pots and chiv to cure, another option is to drop anatomy and have healing and chiv. You won't be able to rez/cure with aids, but you'll nevertheless have a backup method for healing. If you go this route, you'll be able to heal via aids, pots, chiv, and bush/confidence. Something to think about.

When it comes to PvP, I'm better at not dying than I am at killing, so I'll let someone with more experience critique your template. Gl, friend.

Well...with the set up you have, I would be willing to bet you would be sorry trying to use chiv for healing. The only way chiv is really a viable option for healing is if you get 4/6 casting. This leaves few choices for items, you would need Orny, ring, and at least 1 other sources for FC which is either headpiece, shield, weapon. So unless you have all your weapons with 1fc, or drop bushido and use a shield, or go with that awful headpiece, you wont be reaching that 4/6 casting speed. Now if you got 4/6 casting then you would be fine to use chiv for healing, if you could actually manage to get 4/6 with bushido then you can use that as well to heal.

orny is out of my price range by about... 13m [im very very broke, but thats a story for another board] gives me an goal to shoot for i guess. ive seen tactics dropped in some templates, that would get rid of specials but is there a benefit to it? or is it sacrificing too much damage to cram a skill in

Truth is, PvP ain't cheap. Personally, I'd drop anatomy before I'd drop tactics.

You are most welcome, and I would certainly not drop tactics to much. Just post again if you need more help.

Tactics you will not be able to drop. Not if you plan on PvP'ing...and not being a dead comedian.

PUB 46 (August 29th, 2007), made it so you have to have 70 tactics to execute a primary and 90 tactics to execute a secondary special.

So minimum...you will need 90 tactics. 4/6 Caster relying on chivalry is feasible. You will have to tweak your stats though so that you have a larger mana pool, then a bandage using dexxer. Both have...very different tactics.

If you do go healing...you will need 140 dexterity. You can do that with some +DEX and +stamina items and/or use pots (not as a viable solution in my opinion). You eventually run out of pots. You don't run out of dex/stamina if you already have it where you need it.

With just 100 parry, you will be a sitting duck. Any good PvP dexxer pretty much packs 120 weapon and 120 parry. You will be at a severe disadvantage just to begin with. Chiv...don't need 80 for PvP.

There are a couple builds where you can use higher chivalry, but I highly recommend a better mana pool. P.S. This is the type of templates where you will need much better gear.

I advise doing the dexterity/healing routine for starting out. Adjust as necessary later, since the other builds take more time to tinker around with.

Last note for now cause I am tired...either go 120 resist or do nothing. With scrolls being cheaper, more people carry 120 magery than ever before. So go 120 resist to help your chances or use items. With 115 resist, you can still get paralyzed long enough that a duo of mages can take you out.
