Chiv/Necro Karma Ideas

Instead of making it black and white, you can be one or the other, how about this:

1) Casting Chivalry spells with 0 Necromancy causes you to gain Karma
2) Casting Necromancy Spells with 0 Chivalry causes you to lose Karma
3) Give a spell bonus to Necromancy based on negative Karma like Chivalry has for Positive Karma
4) Choosing to have Necromancy and Chivalry is OK- however you will have neither the good nor bad karma bonus applied to any of your spells.

This would be a fair and balanced way of handling the situation, giving players control over their templates and letting the "Death Knight" be a viable option without overly nerfing anything or pigeon holing us into classes.

or even when somebody with spellweaving flags on you and summons pixies and tells them to attack you (now they are gray) how about making it so if you kill them you don't lose like 200 karma per pixie

honestly though, I think the karma loss from necro shouldn't be a one time thing when casting the form spells, i think it should continually lose karma while in the form.

I like the new changes though, making chiv more dependent on real skill than just karma, i think it'll help a lot, maybe now 120 and 115 chiv scrolls will actually sell, hated getting them because i could toss them on my vendor for 15k and they'd be there forever...almost couldn't give the things away, no real point even going to GM on chiv.

Well I hate being the bad guy but if I must, Can I ask you Guys and Ladies to please try and give some kind of reason other than it would work like this.?

Like, you're going to make changes for the sake of changing something? I don't understand why staying in a form would cause negative karma loss. We have to ask, Is the form evil or does the form cause negative karma?

Like, 1, 2, 3 and 4, I get that you don't want necro and chiv together but you don't say why. I mean, I agree that would or might give incentive to not have necro and chiv but again I ask why?

Maybe we need to change chiv and necro themselves. Chiv has what, 5 spells? Necro forms stop casting? So, chiv is needed. Change it, fix it, add to it. Why you might ask, because this is just the beginning.

Let's look at a few things about karma before we decide what to change.

Remove karma locks.

Create Evil Virtue System.

Add spawns for evil necros to kill. Tie it into evil, like little innocent villages, a lost boy in the woods, a woman crying.

Let's stop evil spawns from attacking evil necros.

Now, let's add evil quests and incentives to be bad.

Create champs like Oaks but more of them. Add in weapons and armour for only evil.

Create factions for them to join. Add spells to other groups for both ends of the spectrum, like good spells and bad spells and special moves and so on...

Widen the distance for karma and fame, so it takes about a year and allow those spells to become available based on that spectrum.

So, if you have a Dread Lord Evil Necro, spells in magery could be used, like summon daemon.

If you are a good Chivalry Lord, you could summon a Hero or something good and if you are neutral, an EV.

So, people work to either have good or bad characters. This would be based on karma and virtue, as well as, allowing the freedom to deeply express roleplay by actually becoming your Virtue.

So, all of these things change because of something. You're not just changing it so it works in a certain way, it's changing to work with everything.

Hail Britainians,

Paladins are a combination of Warriors and Clerics and Chivalry a Code of positive ethical concepts Honoring Good, Order, and Law. Paladin "magical abilities or spells" are in fact "Divine grants of special abilities" gained from Divine Favor.

Necromancy is a combination of earthen magiks and residues of life essences forming an alternate form of Magery. While not explicitly evil, neither good nor Divinely approved, most practitioners are shunned and often avoided.

It is unthinkable that any Paladin would or could involve themselves in the dark art of necromancy. To attempt to so do would bring immediate disfavor from the Paladin's Divinity and loss of all chivalrous abilities. It is equally unthinkable that any Divinity capable of granting chivalrous abilities would grant them to necromancers.

For the purposes of Sosaria, or Britainnia if you will, it seems to me that the more the Paladin embraces Good, Order, and Law in actions and deeds the greater benefit ought be attained for chivalrous "spells" and abilities. Additionally, the higher a Paladins Karma the greater ought the intensity of their abilities be.

My personal view of practitioners of necromancy would hold that use of their dark arts in pursuits supporting Good, Order, and Law would reduce negative Karma but never allow net positive karmic status, but allowing the benefit of increased intensities in their abilities.

How any of this could be adapted for PvP is beyond me. I confess tho, I'd like to see a serious discussion on these issues.
