As found here:
Mr. Tact was in rare form... ...His ideas for PvP went over well, especially his champ spawn idea to curb griefing. That one was VERY popular. The basic idea was to change the AI of champ spawn creatures so when champ spawn raids get jumped by PvP gankers, the creatures attack the newcomers. This removes the "hammer and anvil" situation for the original raiders.
Now, I know Tact is gone, but what ever became of this?

My guess: Reds complained.

Also I could think of other solutions to the issue that seem better.

Err, not to put too fine a point on it, but what other solutions would those be? At least the one Tact suggested would be a step in the right direction.

And frankly, who cares if the "reds" complain? These days, there's very few honorable reds out there (yeah, they did exist), and most of the time, Red = Griefer anymore (and before you reds get your panties into a collective bunch, I'm not saying you all suck, and save the "Trammie noob, st*expletive*u, because I've heard it all before, and my primary houses are STILL in Felucca, TYVM). I mean, if Reds were looking for PvP, that'd be one thing. They're not. They're looking for GvP.

&

MrTact is still alive and kicking, last I heard.
He isn't working on UO :(
I still feel like we are in good hands.

There are many important issues within UO that need to be covered & recovered.

...

Why would they stop after 11 years?
?

(I bet they are working on important stuff, quite a bit)

...I care if reds complain as I am one...Im several actually, but my vote counts as much as yours. If your blue, your probably going to get attacked. Its my playstyle. You have Trammel, Malas, Ilsh, and Tokono to run around freely in. Fel, that just makes the game more interesting. And the main reason alot of people still play...so dont kid yourself. If it wernt for pvp in this game, it would be over.

I love when reds respond to me as if I give a damn whether or not I'm attacked in Felucca. Go back and re-read my post, and realize that while I don't run around playing with the reds in Felucca anymore because it's simply not something I consider "fun" anymore, that both of my primary houses are still in Felucca.

Why don't I PvP in Felucca anymore? Frankly, I haven't kept up with the game mechanics, plus, the people I used to play with no longer play, so it just isn't as fun to do anymore. But, equally frankly, I still don't care if you complain about something put in to prevent your ghost-cam gankfests. If that's what YOU consider to be PvP, that's fine with me, but stop crying about it if people don't want to waste time working on stuff only to have you come in at the last second to take away their hard work. That's not challenge, that's being lazy and it's about time they did something about it.

Me, personally, I wish we had the old days where if I got PKed, I could sit and have a nice chat with the red. Or where, hell, we'd res a red (who wanted to be ressed) because that's what honorable folk did, whether PK or APK. What I tire of is self-righteous lazy bastards that sit around and call "I'm going to bring my friends to crash your champ spawn so we can get all the goods now that you've worked it up for us" by the name PvP. It's not. It's PvPvM, that is you're fighting players already distracted by monsters. You want PvP, I'm absolutely fine with that. Hell, you want to have a war with a guild at the outset of a champ spawn, I'm even fine with that. You want to let someone else do the work for you and hide under the, "This is Felucca, deal with it," mindset, I'm NOT fine with that, and neither should be EA Mythic.
If it wernt for pvp in this game, it would be over.
Newsflash: This has NEVER been true. And while it might be over for you, it was, oh, let's call it April 2000 that EA proved how very untrue that statement was, because after driving away a majority of the PvP players with the advent of Trammel, the game continued to thrive. It's survived for nigh on 8 more years without anything really resembling the PvP that occurred prior to UO:R, and if you think for one moment that your playstyle is the majority of UO's current players, I've got a small, purple crack-pipe I just looted in-game, and I'm happy to pass it on...

Frankly, all of the solutions I can think of would hurt me, so I am reluctant to talk about them.

*chuckles*

I will say that the solution or two I'm thinking of are not original with or unique to me (I didn't invent them and I'm not the only one to have discussed them), and are aimed at "Trammie" guilds who come to Fel and work a spawn as guild.

Basically, they are means to get around the "raid at the last minute, overwhelm, steal champ after spawn has been worked" issue.

As to why we should care what the reds want? I, for one, honestly don't. (I used to try to be more accommodating and diplomatic about such things, but I'm way past that,)

I was explaining, not justifying.

i hate pvping and i hate fel... that being said, isn't the point of fel being able to kill people and basically just wreak havoc? the reason skill scrolls are only available in fel is for this very reason: it's tougher in fel (well, regarding spawns). do i think it's silly that trammel-folk have to buy their scrolls off vendors? well, probably. but there has to be some incentive to knowing you may be murdered/get your scroll stolen at any moment.

and thus, this is why it's part of the game to be able to be 'jumped' or what-have-you by another guild while doing the spawns. it's how it was intended so that 'farming' (if you will) scrolls/stat scrolls was tougher; and basically so that these really powerful rewards would be deserved.

i'd like to see power scrolls obtained through trammel spawns but i know that this would be silly as there would be little danger.

Pass the pipe.

UO's PvM is so boring even dedicated PvMers moving over from WoW/AoC/EQ2/YouNameItOnline leave it alone after a while and try to either find a new game or learn how to PvP. This is 2008, not 1998.

Champs situation is fine. Learn to PvP, ask PvPers to be on guard, lots of ways to avoid the Hammer/Anvil situation.

What Tact suggested would be fine when OTHER PVMERS RAIDED TRYING TO PULL OFF A "FRIENDLY" TAKE-OVER WHICH IS MUCH, MUCH MORE ANNOYING THAN AN HONEST, RUDE, PVP TAKE-OVER. Ironic.

And how DARE you say "Reds whined" when this game catters so much to Trammies and their decisions affect PvP more and more? And I hope your come-back is more intelligent than starting a semantics argument about the word "Trammies" and how I used it here.

Right, because, you know, UO's PvP is so much richer than other games (DAoC, WoW, et cetera), right? How about: Not.

Sure, it's fine for the reds. It's actually a pretty pathetic situation.

Guess what... these "Trammies" you keep talking about are the ONLY reason there's even a game still left for ANY of us to play. Realize that's a fact. As for reds whining... hell, pretty much everyone in the game whines at some point.

If they do that , what is left for the reds then?
+ gives extra sensation...group vs group and surrounded by spawn.

I think there are VERY few people left in UO who can still use the word 'trammie'.

A hardcore felucca player who has the right to call someone a trammie..is a player who has been playing since 1997-1999 and has never been to trammel himself with any of his chars.

And i think that leaves 0.0% of the UO population.

I started UO in Nov of of 98. Been pvping since 99, been through the changes, adapted with the changes, tried pure templates, tried gime templates, tried pvm even.....PvP in this game is rich, way more options than other games. But since your a high and mighty PvMr and prefer to play against AI instead of real people, I will officially end this thread with a, "You dont know jack, Jack"

Stay in tram, thats fine, thats where you belong.
