Where would I go about tracking down a supply of gems for imbuing?

Any player vendors keep em stocked? Faction towns still able to be set cheap?

All the towns are set to cheap. I use the east brit jeweler and the vesper jeweler to buy gems.

The best and cheapest way to get them would be off the npc's.[/QUO

Yes, but npc prices are not all equal. So Britain may be cheaper if the faction who rules the town atm has lowered the price or the faction in control can raise the price. Luna for example is a constant price.

Are these the same gems a GM miner can dig for?
I ask because I don't know and would like to try my hand at Imbuing one day.

(On Sonoma at least) I found that the cheapest place was actually the jeweler in Ter Mur beside the Soulforge. Citrine and Amber were both always at 50 gold depending on how many times you buy though (although Sonoma does not have a high population).

Only a few of the Miner gems are actually used for imbuing (for high intensity mainly) - http://www.uoguide.com/Imbuing_Ingredients.

NPC vendors works different here than on normal shards. Here we have cheap factions towns, then non factions towns and then factions taxes with high taxes. Brit and Vesper are often cheap Faction = cheapest way to get gems.

Yes same ones! :)
Actually, no, these are not the same gems that a miner can dig up. While those types of gems are used to make certain items, the gems we are speaking of are sold by NPC jewelers and can drop in small quantities, on some monsters, as loot. These are the gems used for imbuing.

but you can mine regular gems now! You just have to have GM mining and buy the book from the gargies about mining quality gems, and then set your pick/shovel to mine ore and gems. They spawn with the same frequency of granite or thereabouts. The rare (big) mining gems will drop in your pack regardless of what you have your shovel set to. This concludes Talia's mining lesson of the day

Thank you, Talia. I did not know that. A number of things changed during my 2+ year break and that appears to be one of them. :)

If you have the right skills, the hidden boxes in Exodus dungeon can supply a nice quantity of gems. Not as many as buying them of course, but it does help offset the cost a bit.

I've never purchased gems simply because I saved them since whenever I started and also mine them. Based upon this thread, when calculating a selling price for imbued stuff, is 50gp/gem a fair number or is it higher? I've thought of stocking skill jewelry and am in the dark on this. Thanks.

If want to get gems from killing mobs, which mobs give the largest quantity reliably besides dragons?

The fun thing to do with Bo is to just rattle off the least convenient places to check.

"Can't talk now Bo, hunting Ancient Liches in Khaldun"
"Yay, another artie in Doom!"
"I like to kill ancient wyrms on foot! Whee!"
