Characters not where I left them when I logged out last..

Just now logged my crafter in and he was standing outside of the house I own. Now I know when I logged him last night it was inside the house. This is the second character Ive logged in today thats been outside my house when logging in and should have been inside the house. Has this happened to anyone else before? Just wondering if theres some problem with the code that dosent recongize some characters sometimes as part of the owner account and just boots them from house when logged out. I also just hope its not someone that has my account info and has hacked into my account.

are you sure this is the same account that owns the house?
have to tinkered with the permissions/lists of the house lately?

I've only seen this happen with new characters not being recognized, but such a bug is possible.

It is possible that:

1.) you logged out and then the shard crashed and reverted (unlikely since you had it on multiple characters).

2.) your account was hacked and you no longer own the house (this would kick you outside to the house-sign upon log-in).

3.) someone has hacked the account and is messing with you.

4.) the advancing years are slowly taking your memory...

You'll have to judge number 4 for yourself but I'd recommend running virus/trojan scans, changing passwords and other important account info. including the e-mail address the account is registered to.

Hopefully it is just a fluke!

Did you by any chance go into custom before you found them outside? It sometimes happens to me.

Even if I change nothing some chars just seem to fly out.

Do all the scans tho! Never know!

There have been occurances once in a while of me logging into areas that I wasn't at, right after a disconnect. I was in Moonglow, d/c, log back in, and I'm in Luna. No account security was compromised. The people with me just saw me disappear.

Could be something similar.

Ive had it happen when I have placed an item (or wall if I customized) on the tile the character logging on happened to be standing on when I logged her out.

might be a good idea to go to someones house, and go on uo.com on thier machine and change passwords just in case "someone" has their eye on yr computer?

Nope wasnt in customize mode when I logged out..just standing in the center of the empty plot I own on both characters when I logged them out.

I have actually had that happen on more then one occasion the past few years, for no apparent reason.

The only time I had that happen was when I was being hacked. It was my first indication that something wasn't right.

This happened to me yesterday. I had logged out at my plant shop late Wednesday night and when I logged in yesterday, I was back at my greenhouse. Everything seems fine with the account though.

This happened to me today. I didn't think too much of it, until I read your post, Marcus.

I logged into my character on Great Lakes and she was standing just outside the house, under the house sign. She is a co-owner, so there shouldn't have been an access problem.

I also logged into houses on BalHae and Sonoma. Those characters were in the houses, just as they should have been.

I suspect it is just a hiccup or glitch of some kind. Everything else seemed okay with my accounts.

For the sake of security, I would do the following.

Run malware, virus, trojan scanners.

Change your default email addy for ultima online (assuming this is possible)

then, finally

Change your ultima online password.


Note to the wise: Never use the same email address for your uo account and forums.

IF your combat timer is active, and you log out in your house, sometimes you end up under the house sign, when you log back in.

i logged out in luna 2 days ago for an hour and when i logged back in i was off in bfe no idea where i was just in a corner of the world by a mountain. so yah i changed password nothing was missing just not where i left me

4 days ago Saris was sitting in his house and i was disconnected, this was about 3pm cst, I logged back in but got stuck logging on, I closed UO and relogged, and I was in the middle of Cove for no apparent reason, I figured someone hacked me then i bumped them off, so I changed my password, has not happened since, I run norton 360 and use malwarebytes for weekly scans, nothing, but better safe than sorry.

A couple of weeks ago, Wraith and I were at an IDOC. Wraith was holding a a box that weighed 17.5 million stones. He momentarily lost his mind and tried to walk with it. The system thought that wasn't a very good idea, I guess, because he immediately lost connection. He logged right back in and found himself in the crystal fens. Fortunately, we did rescue the box.

This happened to me as well. I was in my house and went AFK, as I often do.. and let it just autodisconnect. Next time I logged in, I was in the middle of Cove. My house is no where near Cove. I changed my password and nothing ever seemed to come of it.
