Changing the way categories/skill speed works

I've got an idea that EA may wish to incurr at some stage. Thought I'd post it on here see what others think.

When you choose the skill category for a property, we all know the maximum skill speed is normally 118% with 6 sims (sorry AVATARS!) performing the same skill. Well, how would it be if EA introduced an extra to this. After choosing the skill category you are presented with another box showing all the skills. You check boxes for the skill/skills you wish to specialise in, or indeed opt for 'all skills'. If you choose to specialise in one or two skills only, the speed is increased, for example to 148%, when 6 avatars are performing the same skill. This would encourage people to specialise in the skill they're offering rather than having multi skill houses, encouraging visitors that wish to concentrate on a particular skill for their job or to earn money. It would also help avatars setting up skill houses with the cost of it, shops may do a special price for multi-buying specific skill objects.

This idea could also be extended in to the other categories in a similar way. For example, specialising in only jams or only pizza etc. etc.

Just a thought, what do you guys think?

I like this idea a lot. I don't really like multi skill houses because there is usually a few people doing each skill so you never get maximum speed.

Excellent idea. I despise multi-object houses, you never know what everyone is doing until you get there, and then you are pretty much guaranteed that sims will be spread too thinly over several tasks for anyone to get maximum benefit.

Great idea!! I usually only visit skill lots that specialize in one or two skills.

It is a good idea - one that has been proposed several times.
EA ignored it, of course.

EA Games, (if by that you mean the management...because we have not had a development team for *years*, basically since Kyle left and Randy got 'diversified') probably never heard any proposals...and if they had, they were long past trying to improve this game.

The only 'suggestions' that really count, are the ones that were proposed since Luc brought the focus back on us and the game.

It is worth trying to write up a design proposal on the Wiki.

Yup. And if you notice; those are usually the most successful houses anyways...

I am all for anything that will let me skill at 148% or 247%

Actually, I proposed a very similar idea recently (2-3 months ago).
But, EA (ok, you win - the Devs) don't pay any attention to suggestions posted on Stratics, and I don't do blog.
Their loss. I have read many very good ideas from players that will never be considered because the Dev Team is adamant about the blog, and only the blog.

I'm sure they read suggestions here too. They just don't implement them, but then they haven't done most of what is on the wiki or blog either lol. That doesn't mean that it will never happen, keep trying, it's a worthwhile cause.

I'd like to see the skilling speed increase as more join in, instead of six being the magic number for top speed, if a 7th joins, it increases and so on. It should continue to increase as more join in, and who says it's has to stop at 247%? Come on, that is still slow when your skills are over 10, bring it on, get 'er done.
