Champ spawns and karma loss

What's the best strategy for fighting champ spawns when the monsters cause you to lose karma? I tried the Lord Oaks spawn in Ilshenar yesterday with my dread necro and died rather quickly. :) I went back with a different character and I appeared to be the only player killing everything in sight. Most other players were only killing the centaurs, which do not give karma loss. Is that enough to advance the spawn? Or is it best to start out with high karma and kill monsters as needed? Thanks in advance

Just kill the grey stuff. Don't take someone with negative Karma.

I try to have somewhat good karma as my chiv spells suffer.

Shadow wisps, wisps and centaurs, kill as many Drags as you can without going negative, if you think your close go clean up the remaining wisps, centaurs.

I like to alt the tok spawn to get some karma back or find a rat spawn and have at it.

I just go for wisps, centaurs and then the serpentines and bosses. I'll kill the odd blue critter paragon to save the neg karma champers being roasted by em, but at the end my karma is easily topped up. I just alternate the Oaks with one or two different champ runs and that works fine.

Really same as above... Just take down as many wisps and centaurs as quick as possible, then when others are focusing on the dragons clean up the remainder of the wisps and centaurs...

It is key that you jump to another spawn afterwards to get your karma back up... I like to go over to Tokuno because the Hiyrus and Onis take the karma right back up...

Have Fun!!!

If memory serves, centaurs in mythology were rapists ("specializing" in "carrying off" brides right after the wedding and before the wedding night). Given this, in all honesty I see killing centaurs as a positive karma action, whether the game reflects it or not.

(Though the Wikipedia article does not mention this, so my memory might be off? Someone with a better knowledge of Greek mythology will correct me I'm sure.)

Plus, you get arrows!

In the "old days," after doing an Oaks spawn you'd run right out and do the Despise Ratman spawn to get your Karma back. I think it's probably more effective to just go kill a nice load of demonic creatures, though. Plus killing demonic entities is fun.

Or just do it on a negative karma character. Sure it'll be a pain to be attacked a lot but it'll be more fun too.

Shouldn't stealing from rich players give a thief good karma? The whole Robin Hood thing?..la

Unless I am on a Chiv character, I don't worry about it, and kill everything in sight. Then if it gets low enough to where I think I might slip over to negative karma, I'll go hit thrasher/ice fiends/deamons for 30 minutes or so, and I am good.

If you don't have Chiv on your char, who cares what your karma is at?

Been doing Oak spawns for years in Fel, never once did I care that I had negative karma.

PPL have a feeling a been good it the keep LORD title on the paperdoll. what it doesn't mean much those day since it so easy to archived. As for the Karma lot on this champ, you lost karma when u kill the erpentine dragon at the end even if it's grey. I do this champ with a few ppl and just killing the dark wips, wips, centure it is enough to advance the champs. Just go and enjoy the game.

I take my chiv/necro there all the time. It's fun. I'll run up to check the status of the spawn then run back to the edge of it and work my way toward the idol. I use VE + Curse Weapon + Pixie Swatter. EoO the Ki-Rins and tear them to shreds. Any pixies that jump in get thumped by the poison AoE. Ki-Rins and Unicorns are usually two-hit kills. Those bird guy thingers are a challenge if I get more than one on me. But corpse skin will increase damage to 100+ hp's/swing on those.

It gets challenging if 4 or 5 unicorns/kir-rins get on me... especially if one is a paragon. Keeping curse weapon up and divine fury to refresh stamina are critical on that template.

Death is hard though. If I do die I'm better off resing at the shrine and running back. Getting resed there usually ends in a res kill. But I makes it more fun.

Me and another tamer did the Oaks spawn yesterday just killing the grey stuff. Took a while but as soon as the Serps popped I advanced the spawn a level and then killed a few Serp Dragons till Oaks appeared. Never went negative at all and got a nice Wind Spirit replica for the trouble.
