Ok... I'm mad enough that I have to share this so that everyone else can kick me... really... HARD!

I hit an IDOC yesterday morning... two old accounts sitting side by side on Ice Island... and imagine my shock and excitement when I find a bag of old house deeds... 21 of them. Most of them the higher end deeds... I was THRILLED to say the least... nice additions to my collection of old crap you can't get anymore!

Anyway... the ****** that I am... I left the bag IN MY PACK as I was in a hurry after the houses fell and I looted...

WHO DOES THAT? I found them early on... looted the second house... and FORGOT THEY WERE STILL IN MY PACK!!!

at an idoc once i found a CASTLE DEED, thought it was a mini house deed, found a place to set it down, DOUBLE CLICKED and 855000k went to my bank!!!

Might as well kick me too! Did an IDOC few weeks ago and I looted what I thought at the time was just the more current "mini house deeds". What a surprise later when I logged that char back in to find several house placing tools in my pack. Then it hit me what those deeds were, and 1 was a castle deed.

I reopened an old account and it had a house placement tool in it and when I walked past the architect she bought it back from me. It was also a castle deed that had been laying in my pack.

I don't know if it still works, but go to NPC that sells them and appraise each tool. Should give you a random amount of gold for each if they haven't fixed it.

For some reason I think you will get the gold for what the original deed cost.

And yes... I knew it would happen because I had looked them up immediately on Stratics rares... I just forgot to remove them with everything else in my pack. The bag was sitting next to my sending bags... they look the same...

We need a mascot for this team...

Edit- Yes.. that was what alerted me to the problem... all the gold suddenly being deposited into my bank box... it spam scrolled the screen...

For some reason I think you will get the gold for what the original deed cost.

It's been a few years but I once only got 1k from appraising, so I didnt bother to sell it. May be different, no clue.

You get the cost of the original deed, except tower deeds seem to be bugged. You can tell what they are by dropping the tool on an NPC and they'll either say its some sort of house deed or a spyglass.

I've made millions by always looting the house placement tools at idocs. They have quite often turned out to be old converted house deeds, and no one else ever bothers grabbing them to check.

Anyways, I turned my old house into a keep once and moved all my stuff to a smaller plot and of course had to put some stuff on beetles and spare characters, and forgot about my rather nice house deed collection, and created a bunch of tools that day. I think just about everyone who IDOCs a lot has done it, sadly. That was also the same move where I found a bunch of T maps, turned them into the library turn in, and realized later it was my ilsh T map collection. That was a really expensive move, lol.

As soon as I logged on... the tools immediately turned... and gold was deposited into my bank box...
And... the official tally... a little over 2mil made, I just checked my bank... not the original amount I would have made in selling the extras...

It's only pixels... Miss Sin... only pixels...

Goodness Sarsmi... that is why I am always afraid of moving... I have way too much stuff and I will inevitably do something that will later have me wondering wth I was thinking.

On the other hand... to add to the Team... I searched FOREVER (months) for a 120 animal lore PS... finally someone gave me one because they rock... and I ate it... ON THE WRONG CHARACTER! I had just done a character swap... and in my excitement... POOF! Now my mage can... should she ever require it... be legendary... goody.

When I decided to make my floating garden above my castle, I took down my rubble collection in order to start placing gozas... around 4am the next morning I woke up with the sudden realization that I had forgot to lock down the chest I had stored all of my rubble in after moving it a few tiles from where it had originally been. A quick run from bed to the computer confirmed... my entire rubble garden collection gone. Mushrooms, palm trees, benches, rare plants, rocks, fire, logs... all of it gone forever. We all have our days. My floating Garden turned out great, but sometimes I wonder if it was worth the loss.

I would have cried real tears to lose fire. But your floating gardens *did* turn out awesome. That's a tough call...

Oh wow! I did that awhile ago... I missed the event and didn't know that they could be spent. I just assumed they were safe in my box but when I signed on the next day (after shopping)... they were gone and I was blaming UO glitches. I think some guy called me a newb... lol. If he only knew what was coming!

It was probably some UHall poster coming here to yell that they can't place a house using the house deeds and the devs are worthless and should clean this up, yadda yadda yadda......

Arrr, methinks the switch to housing tools came afore gold were so readily available, and they prolly wanted players to not lose the gold spent and to still be able to use the "house-placing item". Possibly they could take out the code now that makes the switch, but there prolly not be anyone left from then who be knowin' what part o' the code does it or how ta remove it!

They didn't tell us the change was going to happen, I'm guessing so maybe people wouldn't hoard the deeds? It was a shoddy bit of coding really, they probably just assumed people would want to get tools and get credited gold for their old deeds, and didn't think about the ways of avoiding them being turned into tools.

I mean, they can change any one graphic into any other graphic, they could have just changed every house deed into a house tool and appended the original house deeds value so it could be redeemed. But no, instead they did it a wonky way that created new rares.

I just try and minimize the times I do stupid stuff so I can reduce the number of Face palms.

They changed to housing tools because you could earn gold by buying deeds low and sell high. Not sure if it was faction towns or whatever but somehow the deed prices wasnt the same all over Sosaria.

Well being a fellow Napa citizen i suppose i can add a couple of my blunders to the list. During the moonglow event i had collection of 15+ cloaks and the rest of the chest was full of threads. While redeisgning my house (which those of you that know me and where i live in Napa I do that alot) i forgot to lock that chest down. Poof ....gone. But this next one came about a couple months while xsharding and buying rares from other rare collectors that were dragging up I bought a few white bank checks for random amounts. well when my pack was full i unloaded into my bank and went shoping again. It didnt click in my head that the white bank checks were in the bag would burn up like any other check. Now who has a boot for me.

Yeah, I was a noob at one time and a vet gave me his house with rares inside. One of them was a blue tent deed and I thought to myself, it would be cool to have a blue tent outside. Not a good idea.

Yikes... happend to me too recently..
Was moving to another house and at the same time letting som chests decay with crap.. apparantly my nice tent deed went in one of those containers cause I cant find it anymore!

I have not bothered to ask what they sell for these days as knowing that will only make me kick myself harder

Also, turned house deeds into tools, and let an old house decay with an entire set of ALL snowglobes and v-day cards in it... *kicks self*
