Have a question on how to place carpet in the courtyard. How do you get it all the way up to the inside edge's ? I can place a deeded fancy carpet from heritage token. But they do not match my choice of carpet tile, color or design.

They are not using carpets they are using a Goza then lifting it up with the house decorating tool. Once the Goza is up you can place the carpet on it if you want along with other items.

Now if only they would return the full use of the goza back... I wouldn't need to do singles at the front inside wall(s) and at doors if they did!
It also stops placement of multi tiled items from placement along that front wall(s). So placing long stone tables is out too.

If you can stand in a spot, you can drop an item in that spot by crafting a container (box, wardrobe, anything wooden) and then placing the item you want there into the container. Then use an axe on the container to smash it, and the item inside drops to your feet... lock it down from there, if possible. Use Object Handles (ctrl-shift) or Last Target to lock down if you can't physically see it where it is.

There's a thread here with Castle courtyard ideas; If you want to do what I've done with the fish deeds, that is raise something to the second floor of the courtyard walls, place a ladder loose anywhere on the floor, climb to the top of the ladder (so you're on the second floor technically, where you'd step off to be on a tower roof) and then start raising the item you want from up there; it'll pass beyond the height limit and keep going.

You can't axe boxes anymore. At least I couldn't. It gave me the "carve" message when I tried.
What did work was "I wish to place a trash barrel" tossing the item and then axing the trash barrel before the item gets deleted.
This of course does not work for deeded items.

As for axing boxes is still no go but.. pouch, and bags yes you can axe them. That works for objects that refuse to go in normally. I still cant understand that bit about goza's.

The only place I could get pouches and bags to work was at the bank. I have been decorating my castles lately and I actually went and purchased all different bags/pouches and axed them at the bank then ran home with them only to find it wouldn't let me axe them at home.

I just now created several types of wooden containers on Origin. One by one, I put a piece of verite granite in each container, set it on the floor inside my castle, and axed it into oblivion with either a hatchet or an axe, leaving just the granite. Didn't notice anything was different than it ever used to be. So what exactly isn't working the way it used to work with axing wooden containers to leave their contents on the ground?

axing.jpg

Added: Just tried axing boxes on Balhae and Lake Austin inside a house and it worked fine on those shards too.

Added: Went to a provisioner on Balhae and bought various types of bags and boxes and set them on the ground outside the shop. Couldn't axe either type of bagball, the little red wooden box (no matter which way it was turned), or a backpack. But I could axe the small pouches and bags that cost 6 gp each, both in town and in my castle (in the grassy area and "inside" on the stone floor).

I've noticed it depends on the type of box. I've been able to axe the little red boxes and crates just fine, but not other boxes.

I was unable to axe the boxes or pouches while in my backpack. Were you able to do it from your backpack or only on the ground?
(if I could get the item on the ground where we wanted, I/we wouldn't need to put it in a box and axe it)

I tried crafted crates and a box I found in a chest that I honestly am not sure of the origin.
As far as the bags go, like I said I could axe them in the bank or "provisioner spot"(in Luna) but not in my house (which was frustrating because I bought a BUNCH of them lol)

No problems destroying crafted little red boxes while in my crafter's backpack. Destroying the small bags and pouches purchased from a provisioner while they were in my character's backpack was very odd. I bought several of each of the bags and pouches to test with. The first few times I tried it with almost every one, it couldn't be destroyed. But eventually, on about the third or fourth try, the bag or pouch would be destroyed. Sometimes it would be destroyed on the first try. Eventually I got all of the bags and pouches destroyed. I thought for a second the problem was that they had to have nothing under them in my backpack (using classic client), but then I was able to destroy them while they appeared to be sitting on type of other stuff in my character's backpack (a pile of boards, the axe I was using, etc.) Maybe the spotty results are from the lag on Balhae. Who knows. I was never able to destroy the leather backpacks, bagballs, or purchased red boxes, though, even after multiple attempts on the ground and in my character's backpack.

Edited to add: If the bag or pouch won't destroy on the first try in the backpack, pick it up and move it and then try.

I got them the first time every time at the provisioner/bank in Luna which is why I purchased the lot of them and took them home.
Then I failed every time so went back and was once again able to destroy them every time with my axe. So I tried the bag and it was the same exact story.
I'll try again tomorrow and see what kind of results I get.

This happens from items like the parrot/perches that are set up on a floor above or below where you want to place on a tile. Not sure but I think slime statues, and the lady of the snow statues also block like that.magical properties stop/ block you from placing here something like that. If I can't place I check the other floors remove, or ax a parrot go place item go back and set back up the item or parrot.

Custom houses I know idea how mean floors between when this happens.

Trying to place on carpet use a brocade goza mat ( this one stays above the carpet) raise it up once or twice.
( this info is for players that don't know this)

As has already been copiously answered, it does still work; I've always crafted the box on the spot myself and then instantly destroyed it, as when I'm decorating I might want to stack things in certain orders or set up in Classic and EC and... so I've a dedicated set of macros on my Crafter, and might as well make my own boxes too! So I've not seen the problems with vendored containers you lot have. But yes, it still works!

Statues do block placement above (but not below, you can get things under them if raised) but the trick in Castles is often more where you're stood. You can't place under yourself or 1 square away in some locations, but I've found moving two away, and then trying from squares at that distance around the location will place; Also you can get the Codex tiles onto a tower roof (and the Medusa Floor) but it requires removing the ladder behind you first as that also blocks placement up close. When all else fails, and it's not a deed thing, it's back to box-chopping...

They are not using carpets they are using a Goza then lifting it up with the house decorating tool. Once the Goza is up you can place the carpet on it if you want along with other items.
So far no luck with the gaza mat. I raised all the way up to second floor and still could not place carpet on top. I was able to place the carpet on top if I removed a piece of carpet from where it would go down anyway. But still a no go on the little strip along the inside edge's, that you can target with a deed. I will admit I do have decorator's cranial rectumitus. But trying to cure that..........

You need 2 accounts to do this
1st account place goza mats on the ground start raising them from the top left corner til the tool won't let you
2nd account use it to pull the gozas the rest of the way up to where you want them.
I use the 2nd account cuz it gets tiring to run up those castle steps :D
once the holes are filled place a ladder on second floor to where you will be able to drop into the hole you want to place the carpets in. To get out of the hole you will have to recall out or use leave house on your character menu.

Tina is semi correct... I have been able to axe bags and pouches and some crates and boxes but I do get the message you cant on some others even if I just made them on that character and others let me axe them. It seems this might be a random bug. Before I decided to quit chessy I placed lamp posts on the keeps corner of roof tops this way.
Flutter try another one of your accounts to do it ... see if its a bug with your placer.

"Semi correct"??? Reporting your own actual experiences makes a person "semi correct"?? Were you standing behind me and watching what was happening on my screen and now saying that I misreported what actually happened to me? I said some stuff was able to be axed and some stuff wasn't able to be axed. Perhaps you missed that, though.

It's true I didn't try on a different character. I was kind of annoyed to be honest. The damn things chopped fine in Luna LOL. I'm not sure how it could be a character thing, but I guess you never know. All I know is the bags "destroyed" easily at the spot in Luna where I purchased them but when I got home I got the "use this on corpses to carve away meat and hide" message. I tried multiple bags (I had 20 in my pack). I then RETURNED to Luna and destroyed them all whilst saying naughty words under my breath about bugs in UO.
Why it did not work for me at home I do not know. Will it work if I try again today? I do not know. I admittedly didn't try different characters or different axes. I was attempting to decorate my castle and had a bag full of stuff and since the trash barrel system works I just used that.

Tina I meant no disrespect to your experience with the bug... so take the chip off your shoulder kiddo
This bug is hap hazard as a few can do it and others cant and its the very same items..... I tried to do a few on different accounts and had a odd mix of results. 1 bag didn't let any chop it while a second bag bought at the same time busted for only one character.... this bug is pickie
