cant enhance new items?

ill be the first to admit i havnt tried to enhance stuff in a LONG time.
since imbuing came along 99.9% of everything i get off of mobs gets unraveled.

but i picked up a nice little Chaos shield the other night and with the exception of the 95 required strength its a nice shield.

so i thought id hit it up with some dull copper and drop that strength requirement down a little and press the shield into service.
when i went to enhance it with the DC i got a message that 'this item is already enhanced with the properties of a special material'.

so....... we cant enhance the new stuff?
i must have missed this when the stuff came out i guess.

also has Antique on it
INT bonus
Mana bonus
HP, SR, MR and LMC.

I thought this also so had a look on the new UO Wiki and it states:

"Antique – Increased durability loss, can be powdered 3 times. Each powder will reduce max durability to 250, 200, and 150 respectively. Can be repaired."

so are we thinking its the antique property that is causing this?

You can't enhance items with the antique tag.
Not sure you can enhance items with 125 str requirement or 50 stones weight either. I unravel those without a second thought.

You can enhance brittle or prized loot.
