Can someone explain to me how artifacts drop these days?

I've been totally out of commission for a while.
I played a bit of Ilsh where I did some champ spawns, and I know the artis drop into your pack. I think it was the same with Doom. But beyond that, I'm clueless.

I'm trying to figure out:
1) What drop artis?
a) What drops the really good arties?
b) What drops the minor [worthless] arties?

2) Where do I go to get to the drop locations/spawns?

3) Where do the SA artis drop (including the new ones coming in)?

4) What's popular these days? Champ spawns are always empty.

Before I try my best to answer your specific questions, here's a link:

The article is probably not complete anymore.

But anyway. I shall do the best I can.

1) What drop artis?

Doom bosses; Champions from Champion Spawns; certain named monsters in the Abyss and Underworld; bosses of mini-champ spawns in the Abyss; Peerlesses from the Mondain's Legacy dungeon; any monster in the Dungeons of Sin/Anti-Virtue Dunegons; "renowned" monsters in the Abyss.

Specific artifacts drop from specific critters. For example, Virtue Artifacts drop from the monsters in the Dungeons of Sin. The Night-Eyes glasses drops from Navery Night-Eyes. Mangler drops from the Stygian Dragon and (I think) also from the Slasher of Veils.

Certain artifacts are craftable; certain ones are obtained from the Community Collections. (If you can call the latter "artifacts" really.)

Some spawn in your pack, some on the monster's corpses, some on the ground.

a) What drops the really good arties?

"Really good" depends upon your needs.

b) What drops the minor [worthless] arties?

2) Where do I go to get to the drop locations/spawns?

Champ Spawns are at various locations in Ilshenar and Felucca.

3) Where do the SA artis drop (including the new ones coming in)?

Navery Night-Eyes is in the northwest corner of the Underworld, through a hole. The Stygian Dragon is spawned Peerless-style, with keys. His temple is in the eastern half of the Abyss. The Slasher of Veils spawns in a ruined city in the dead center of the Abyss, in a special room called the Chamber of Virtue. The "renowned" monsters are the champs of champ spawn-style monster spawns located in various spots in the Abyss. Almost every monster in the Abyss is part of these champ spawns.

4) What's popular these days? Champ spawns are always empty.

The Abyss is popular, will likely become more popular after Publish 65.

Certain shards still have active champ spawn hunting communities.

You can also use global chat throw together a spontaneous champ spawn group.

Lady Melisande and other Peerlesses are still done periodically.

There's also Event Moderator events on various shards.

And I think we're close to a new event cycle. (At least I hope so.)
