Interesting ideas here. I always love when they take any object, that has pretty much just been pixel crack, and make it useful. It's nice to be able to make tons of decorations, but it's also nice when decorations can be worthwhile.
Why does the alchemy table not add to anything? It can't even be used for storage. I would like to be able to use it other than just decoration.
I would like to see them add alembics, retorts, and stills to glassblowing. Then make the higher end potions require the use of these items in order to make. It always seemed kind of odd that you could just grind up a reagent, toss it in a bottle, and voila' you have a potion. They could at least require you to have water to make potions with. Never really understood why alchemy was so easy.
Some people like things being easy, I myself enjoy taking the steps to craft items. It gives you a sense of actually working your skills.
Since I have been talking just about alchemy, I would like to see a couple skills added to that.
Metallurgy would be a good skill to compliment both alchemy and blacksmithing. Perhaps this runs hand in hand with the forthcoming imbuing. Perhaps alloys like brass could be made to craft things. Or should we continue to make brass candlesticks with iron ingots?
Chemistry should be added to compliment alchemy. Here is a quote from the chemistry side of alchemy about the Philosopher's Stone.
The philosopher's stone was believed to mystically amplify the user's knowledge of alchemy so much that anything was attainable. Alchemists enjoyed prestige and support through the centuries, though not for their pursuit of those goals, nor the mystic and philosophical speculation that dominates their literature. Rather it came from their mundane contributions to the "chemical" industries of the day—ore testing and refining, metalworking, production of gunpowder, ink, dyes, paints, cosmetics, leather tanning, ceramics, glass manufacture, preparation of extracts, liquors, and so on (it seems that the preparation of aqua vitae, the "water of life", was a fairly popular "experiment" among European alchemists).
In the Middle Ages alchemy was considered a philosophical and spiritual discipline. It would be nice to add a skill like philosophy that would add bonus to alchemy (much like anatomy adds to warrior skills, or eval adds to magery.)
It would be nice to see some of the crafter skills offer enhancing skills. I feel that it would cut down on the amount of people running around with one char that can craft anything, and it would bring back some pride in the crafting professions.
