The only GTC I've ever used
IMO, you risk more constantly retyping in the CC info every time you renew, then erasing it (from the chance you might get hit by a brand new keylogger trojan before it gets recognized by your antivirus database), than by leaving it in-system on EA's end. An analogy I've used before is comparing the danger of getting pulled over for running a red light.
IF you go a 100-mile route where you have to go through a light every mile, that greatly increases the chance you'll go through a light late, and be seen, compared if you go the 100 miles on an interstate highway, were the only lights are at the top of the entrance and exit ramps at each end of your trip.

segregated prepaid account with "only may" caps and time frames for payout requests >against a list of "approved methods/merchants"< (only eft, no checks etc.)
was looping back to back auto 6 month periods(10+years), only "strange" one time requests would be myself, online, AFTER notifying bank of pending activity (expansions and upgrades ... >could have< but never did micro transaction's.
via a plug to net only to use and then unplug box scrubbed prior to exposure to net ... and after (wash rinse repeat *wink*)
only used when needed ...
not much chance of a keylogger ...
toss in that I happened to be >aware< that a questionable process >might< touch my money info ...
*shrugs* my info remained safe (and still remains closely monitored)
and day by day, vet by vet ...wth, wtf, why can't I get to my info, what is this?
OTHERS become aware that "somethings different"
bout two more months of that(pay a month coast three types) ... pause somewhat until december january, ~~ six week more of the drip drip drip
while the 6 month auto's are "awakened" and sorted out ...
~~February aught twelve ... the only ones left to ask, will be the absent coming back.
