Sure, the only reason I was making them out of oak was I thought the deed could be dyed so long as they were not made out of regular wood.

That's right, oak soulforges can be dyed with either tokuno dyes or the new stains provided you do it before it's placed. Once it's been placed and gotten the 'blessed' tag your chance to dye it has gone.
