i have decoded the maps, but when i get to the location the option to dig up the treasure does not highlight. This has occurred on 3 maps in a row now

I am not sure what you mean by highlight. You have to double click the shovel and target the map to be able to start digging. You can make a macro in the EC which makes it nice and easy.

Lestat, what you are describing is the original, complicated, version of digging.

Going back to AT LEAST AoS (when I started playing), the t-maps have a context menu, that allows you to select to dig for the map with all that extra clicking.

You click on the map to bring up its context menu, you select "Dig for Treasure" and target the ground where you want to dig. That's it.

I didn't know the way you describe existed until I'd been the GM of my local THB for several years, having learned to do it the other way.

Typically, the grayed-out "Dig for Treasure" means that you don't have any digging tools in your pack or equipped.

With the EC and a macro, it is a one button push for a dig attempt. I have been using the EC since I came back to game in 09 due to the macro system and larger game screen. With a macro, it is a hot key compared to clicking the map and then clicking where to dig. I honestly forgot that the map gave that context due to the EC. Every time I do a new map, I change the target of the shovel to the new map and off I go. Using the enlarge and transparency ability of the EC, I can locate the dig site and most times have the treasure dug up within 30 seconds to a minute without mining.
