Over the last 4 days have found that your new boat can be accessed if a ruin has been marked on your boat. If you have set security to allow officers access and someone recalls to your boat and they are an officer on another boat, it appears they can access your hold, even if they are not allowed access to "your" boat. I tried to contact EA but had a run-around you would not believe. Sent a bug e-mail and response was not about the bug but only that they could not replace items. Talking to help desk was even worse. Helper had no idea what I was trying to tell him. Same with his supervisor. Gave me a number to call which was main EA number, using their options kept taking me to dead loop. Even dry docking your boat does not help. When you replace boat in water, anyone can recall using marked ruin. Until fixed I would suggest not leaving anything in hold you can not afford to loose. Two boats on separate accounts were looted. Only owners of each boat allowed access to other characters boat as "officer", yet both looted and all items lost. Filled with all the crabs and lobsters gathered since release. Such a loss I would not wish on anyone else.

Not sure about the access ... maybe it is bugged, but somehow I doubt it.. are you sure you have set the access right?

I dry-docked boats. When I put back in water and after having changed settings to deny access to everyone, I was able, with one of the characters, to recall to the other characters boat and access the hold and tillerman. Used the same ruin that character had prior to dry-dock.

Best advice then is to sell the boat and buy a new one.
Or don't use the boat until it is fixed, might take some time though.

The marking is the same problem they had/have with recalling into houses keeps, just thought dry docking would give the boat a new id and make the rune void.
the access is a bit puzzling as a friend invited me on his boat and i could not access the hold. Test it on testcenter then and write a bug report if you can reproduce it?
Ahh that's why my lobsters/crabs/fish were gone one day. Can they refresh the boat too? I couldn't play for a week and when i went to refresh my boat it was "slightly worn". In the beginning my boat was "public" because of that silly default rule being N/A. My boat was set to officer only and had only a char on my other account as officer.
I just checked my boat and all my traps are gone from the hold.

Still only my other self friended to the boat with officer rank. Boat was again slightly worn. Last refresh was on saturday. I doubt drydocking will help since the rune i have from placing day still works. Even tho i had drydocked the boat daily before they changed the questgivers to automatically give new quests.

Kas, you've given the public officer access to your ship, if what you've typed above is correct. You need to set that to N/A.
Unfortunatly the New boats have a tiny flaw. The Rune you first get is the ships "key" and do not change even if you dry dock. Its like a house rune. I found out this small fact when I was looking at boat names when HS came out. I found I was refreshing them when I clicked on the tiller to see names.... so I investagated my boat fully on all points and the marking or runes on one lets you on another you have rune to (like my son's boat) even if you dont have permission. You just need a rune to the vessel and status on any other boat.

Hmm seems that was my mistake then. I seem to remember that the default settings of the boat fubar because they meant "no rule applied" aka everyone has access. Public Access -> Officer meant to me anyone not in the guild or party must be rank officer on my boat access list to access it.
I should have tested it some more. I couldnt get on the boat with any other char besides those on the friends list. Now thinking about it all the chars i tested the public rule with were in the guild and the guild setting was DENY. I thought i was save.
Thanks for the headsup. I wonder why they thought up sucha stupid system and didn't just copy the house access system ...

Can you recall with a non HS account on a HS rune?
I'm glad I don't leave runes around. Everyone that has a rune to my ship (which would be two other of my chars) keep the rune safe in a rune book so it can't be stolen or lost.
Well ... basically, the story is if anyone has access to your ship, or a rune plus access, they can take your stuff ... so the answer is make sure your ship isn't public. Hm. Right? Or don't access strangers ... but ships are buggy. Like, you can still refresh any old ship by dbl clicking side, even if you aren't an owner.I view it as more of an IQ test

I think, Kas, that it happened because you gave the public officer access. Reset your accesses and try again. Public should be N/A. If you want to lock the ship down so no one, not even those given access, can board, just set all of the accesses to DENY.

And anyone can refresh a boat, Just double click the rope it'll refresh regardless if you have access to get on that boat or not.
