BUG with Thief Disguise kit - Deletes your Icons on UO Screen Upon Logging out Disguised. When you log back in the character selection menu has the name of the person you were disguised as and when you login to the game you have no icons on your screen.

This also deletes your UOAssist macros so beware!

im using classic client and how the hell would a screenshot help? Want me to post what it looks like BEFORE my icons are deleted from my UO screen and then AFTER? I think you can use your imagination to determine what that looks like

Hasn't that been happening forever? When I used to be a thief (pre trammel) I created a directly for every possible disguise kit name in my macro folders and copied all the macro / setting files from the real character folder into each sub folder. The client thinks you created a new character. That's why all the macros are gone when you login. You might risk overwriting your real characters macros when you login with a disguise name and log out when the disuise has worn off.

This is not a bug - this is the feature of clients. It saves your character desktop upon logout UNDER the character name.

Meaning if you log in a char called Newbee, use disguise on it and it renames to Noob - It makes a new char name folder in ea games/ultima online/ etc.. with Noob folder. That folder will be emty, but that will be where it tries to load desktop and macros for upon login - and it has been like this forever.

Wait till disguise wears off, then relog with your char and u get your desktop back. OR copy your macros etc from the Newbee folder to the Noob folder and rename the char name in setting.txt i think it is.

Strange... however in the folder that has your character desktops ( for me it's C:\Documents and Settings\******\My Documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Legacy\User Data\$$$$$\Europa - **** replaces my real name, and $$$$$ my account name, so your entries for those will be different!) using a disguise kit and logging out while it is in effect creates a new folder under that name, BUT the original is still there.

I'd suggest having a look in that folder, and if there is one folder for each of your 'real' characters then deleting any folders for characters you no longer have (either the results of disguise kits or characters you deleted in the past, both will still be in there), and restart the client - it should then only show the genuine ones as options on the login.

Definately not a good thing to use (disguise kit) considering the fact that if you client crash and re login you will have NO macros atleast until 2 hours when it wears off... Wont be using that again until it gets fixed... I crash all the time and if im in the middle of doing something i dont wanna have to deal with logging back in and not having any macros up because im in disguised.

It will never get "fixed" As long as the folders are named by the characters name instead of the user id you will have that problem. Same goes for multiple characters with the same name. But since they fixed the num-pad problem for non-us users after all this time you never know.

I mean it is a problem... because the more you use this disguise kit the more unnecessary files that are being created for this character names... I mean there's gotta be a better way of doing it then flooding your UO folder with folders of different names.

I just go in and delete the folders with the alternate character names once I am no longer shown as that name in game.

Pro-tip: Use an oil cloth on yourself before you log out if you don't want that to happen regularly, or don't spend two hours in-game at a time.

Nothing new. Been happening for a LONG time. Just copy-paste macros if you log out with the disguise on.

btw, to edit posts, click on More Options in the edit window...

In the old days all the characters used the same file and it bugged me that having a mage or warrior had the same macros and desktop settings. Also, each persons PC login used the same desktop. So maybe 12 years ago I asked to have them changed to put the folders under user documents and stuff. In my view it is working as intended. I think it may have been in a change request during one of the beta releases.

Copy your thiefs folder and rename to the disguised name like others have said.

I just save the settings for my ninja with a disguise kit as the default. Fixes the problem.
