The Moderators and Senior Staff of EA-Land/The Sims Online Stratics wish to ensure that the users of our message forums are clear on our Rules of Conduct. Based on input from our users we've added some additional clarification of the Rules of Conduct and they have been posted in bold below.

RULES OF CONDUCT
These forums are for discussing EA-Land/The Sims Online and the events associated with EA-Land/The Sims Online. These guidelines are posted only to bring clarification on some issues where there have been questions in the past.
Stratics could not be any happier with the quality of posts provided by its participants and it is our desire to provide an environment that is conducive to discussions about EA-Land/The Sims Online. In general what we're describing here is a code of conduct and if all of our participants will subscribe to this code of conduct most of these rules will be easily observed.
The Stratics Network upholds the game's Terms Of Service. If something is against the Terms of Service for EA-Land/The Sims Online it is also prohibited here.
We are proud of the success of our forums and give our thanks to those who have chosen to make our forums their out-of-game home. To ensure continued success we are posting these guidelines so that all participants of the Stratics forums understand what is considered unacceptable behavior in the forums and can result in a temporary suspension or a permanent ban.
Please remember while reading these rules that they apply to Private Messages as well as the public forums. Stratics does also not allow links to web pages which violate our Rules of Conduct. We use one degree of separation to determine what is and isn't allowed to be linked here. In other words, you can not link to a site that contains a link to a site that breaks our rules of conduct.
A. Show respect at all times.
B. Help build the Community.
We encourage people to express their viewpoints and opinions on our message boards. You are welcome to disagree with another poster as long as it is done in a mature and respectful manner. Any post created to intentionally cause a disturbance amongst the message board participants may be subject to closure or removal.
C. Personal attacks are prohibited. This specifically means any text/post that is blatantly attacking another person on or off the forum, especially in a personal way.
This includes accusing anyone of cheating, using exploits, or scamming. Stratics does not have the ability to follow up on these claims to verify their validity, therefore they are not allowed.
D. Trolling is prohibited. Trolling is whenever someone is clearly, deliberately posting in a manner for the purpose of angering and/or insulting the other participants of the board. Trolling DOES NOT encourage further discussion in the long run, it only encourages personal attacks (if left unchecked).
A little background on the word 'Trolling'. It is not in fact calling someone a Troll, or even calling them troll like. Trolling is actually a fishing term where you throw the fishing line into the water and pull it along waiting for a bite. It has evolved into an internet term which means as stated above that you are throwing out comments which you hope will anger other posters and encourage them to respond the same way.
E. Private Messages received on these Forums are to be considered private and are not to be posted publicly unless the sender of the private message agrees.
This also includes posting private messages on other web sites and then linking to them here.
F. Participant shall not post messages containing personal phone numbers or addresses.
G. Advertising of player-run servers is prohibited. Additionally our forums are not designed to provide technical support for server emulators and as such all discussions related to building and maintaining a server are prohibited.
As far as we're aware there is no such thing for EA-Land/TSO, but as this would be against the games Terms of Service it is included here in the event that something like this should be developed.
H. Posting details of bugs and exploits in such a way that others are able to perform said bug or exploit is prohibited.
We understand the wish to discuss these items in order to get them corrected, however Stratics is not the proper place to do this. If you have discovered a bug or exploit please email the details directly to the dev team at [email protected]
Maxis/EA does not approve of third party patches or downloads. For this reason, we will remove posts that contain screenshots or signatures that show unapproved use of a third party patch.
I. Bans, warnings, and post removals are not to be discussed on the forums. Any inquiries or comments on moderator actions are to be sent in private messages or via email. A moderator may choose to publicly inform the participants of a forum about bans and warnings if this is in the interest of the forum.
This includes discussions about suspensions or warnings sent to you for in game conduct as well. Any questions you have regarding your EA-Land/TSO account should be addressed to: http://accountadmin.custhelp.com
EA representatives will not discuss your account status in public forums, where only one side of the situation is able to be presented. Since both sides are not able to be properly represented it is best to take care of any questions or concerns you have about your account status through the proper channels.
J. Posting of pornography, racist or otherwise discriminating remarks, threats to cause physical or mental harm, extreme offensive language, material that breaks any law or otherwise totally unacceptable posts or links to pages that contain the aforementioned material may result in an immediate ban from the forums.
This includes pictures and comments in signature images and avatars.
K. Deliberately circumventing the censor filter is prohibited.
Stratics maintains a built in profanity censor. If you feel the need to use profanity it is best to type out the entire word and if it is meant to be censored the forum software will take care of this for you.
L. Spamming the forums is prohibited.
Spamming is mostly dealt with on a case by case basis. However there are a few easily defined situations: "Bumping" is considered spamming. Bumping a post is where you respond to an outdated post for the sole purpose of bringing it back to the top of the forum. Also posting the same exact post on multiple forums is considered spamming.
The spamming rule is especially enforced in our trade forums. You can get more information about specific forum related spamming rules by reading the top "sticky" threads in each of the forums.
M. We ask that you keep images in your signature relatively small. By this we mean both in over image size (width and height) and also in file size. The larger the image dimensions and size the longer it takes for pages to load in our forums.
Please adhere to the following restriction for images that are not directly related to the topic of the thread under discussion:
- Maximum size of image file(s): 50k
- Maximum height of image(s): 125 pixels
- Maximum width of image(s): 600 pixels
We'd prefer to keep the forums loading quickly for everyone. Thank you.

N. Not responding to or ignoring moderator warnings can lead to suspension.
The moderators are in the position they are in because they understand the Rules of Conduct and how they are expected to be enforced. If a moderator sends you a PM about a post and you do not agree with their decision you can email [email protected] in order to get some clarification. You must still abide by what the moderator requests of you until you hear otherwise from an administrator.
O. Activities that are against any games' Terms of Service or the User Agreement are prohibited from being promoted or advertised on our network. This includes, but is not limited to, third party programs, game item sales for real world goods, power leveling services, and/or links to such items.
There are a number of issues that are not so clearly cut. The following issues are acceptable.
P. Images created using server emulators may be posted on the forum. Many of our participants create cartoons utilizing server emulators or offline graphics programs. These cartoons and artwork add tremendous value to our forums and are perfectly acceptable.
Q. Off Topic (OT) are not prohibited, but should be posted within reason. There are some topics that are not appropriate for the forums. All posts are subject to these rules. Excessive OT posts will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
R. All Forums have a main topic. When starting a new thread, make sure you do so in the proper Forum.
S. City Specific discussions are to be posted in the appropriate city related forum(s).
