Britannian Date Calculator

Anyone know of how to calculate the Britannian date from a given real life date?

I know there's a readout on the main page of stratics, but I want to know eg: what the brit date was on the day I started playing, or for a particular event etc. Just wondering if there's a calculator somewhere that would make things easier, or at least an algorithm I could use.

Also, could that main page readout be added to a forum signature or fansite somehow?

Britannian date: Oct 44, 366

Here are some facts relating to time in Ultima Online:

* Time in Britannia passes quickly compared to our Earth time.
* In 2 Earth hours an entire Britannian day will have passed.
* Twelve Britannian days makes one Earth day.
* Just as on Earth, a Britannian year has twelve months.
* Each Britannian month, however, consists of 73 days.
* This makes a Britannian year last 876 Britannian days, which is 73 Earth days.
* One Earth year equals five Britannian years.
* The release date of Ultima Online was in the Britannian year 289.

As one of my old mentors used to say, "that's a lot of wasted creative energy". Fortunately he was talking about gaming rather than my design work..

For the curious, I made this late last year. It wasn't perfect (it still isn't) but I had done it in such a way that it would 'go out of date'. I left it and moved on.

When I saw Fink's post I thought I'd fix it (it was well and truly out of date) so that it wouldn't have that problem anymore and if I wanted to, I could forget about it and still leave it functioning if others wanted to use it.

If others want to use it, this is what Fink was talking about. UO Clock a misnomer for the time being but for how long...

I started on the 12th sep 1997, but thats cos i was in Beta before it was released :p

Im thinking of the 10 years UO has been live, i would have spend ATLEAST 2 years of my last 10 years playing UO. Okay this isn't good, i need to move on!
