Bring back guild stones

It's time to bring back the good old guild stones! It would be very easy to do as the artwork is still in the game and old stones can still be used as deco if you have one. When someone starts a guild they receive the stone deed in their pack. When the guild stone is double clicked it would bring up the same "guilds" menu that can be accessed through the paperdoll. The paperdoll button would still remain. I see no reason why we can't have them back.

i miss the days when the guild would bring ya to the stone and have you click it..

was added to this guild.once.. many many years ago.. pre aos .. all the guild members on met at the guild house i was gated in.. they had this process...

they would kill you (after you unloaded your stuff and were nude)

rez you and hand you a guild robe.. (normal robe with there color) they made from your death robe..

as you were born fresh onto there guild. was neat.. and a great memory of old times.

then they all celebrated your guilding with food and ale. :)

I have to agree. Its really the one item that was removed that probably shouldn;t have been. Anyone know the history on why they removed them?

I have 11 of them but of all my "rares" I would not be upset if they brought them back. Or they could allow the owner of the house the guildstone is locked down in to reactivate the old guild or maybe even rename the guild.

I'd agree and support this move. I've never understood the move to a soulless gump. Like azmodanb relates, I remember with great affection when my character joined the very first mongol guild - Oymak Batachikan - by standing with the clan around the 'Stone Ghost" and the ceremonies that centred around it. When the Golden Horde inherited once the Batachikan guild folded, our Stone Ghost was similarly central to all the role-play and new members.

Sadly, my guildstone vanished one day a year or so ago - perhaps a bug, perhaps an oversight by me on one of our nomadic moves - and it was the single most devastating loss of an treasured item because of the memories it represented. Even if it didn't work the same way. To have it back would be wonderful and maybe the ghost of the long-departed mongol warriors would be appeased and visit once again.

I think there are two major hurdles that would prevent us from getting the old guild stones back. One would be that the guild stones are now a "rare" that in some cases worth a lot. The rare collector wont want his bottom line threatened by the chance of us getting the guild stones back. Second hurdle would be that re-adding the stones may be a problem because we already have the gump tied to the paper doll. Would it mesh well with the stones again? I am not sure. A Dev would have to answer that one.

I support this 100% would love to see guildstones come back!!

To solve the rares collectors losing money problem, the answer is very simple, either make them look different, or give them a different name and the old rare ones value will barely be damaged at all.

Re: Rares collectors - TOUGH.

Sorry, but the devs shouldn't fear doing something because a tiny minority might get their knickers in a twist. Keeping pixels artificially "rare" has done far more harm than good for UO.

I mostly agree, but although rares collectors are a minority of actual people, they have a lot more accounts than people realize. I can think of about 10 people in the rares community who have 10+ accounts off the top of my head, not counting the few people who have 20-50+ accounts.

The devs do have to take into consideration what rares collectors want, because they have a significant portion of the accounts and are usually a lot more active in the game and community than the average player.

People have been asking for this the day they were removed. Unlikely that anything will be done now, the system is just too far gone.

I for one am FED UP with the Rares community holding UO players by the .... .......... I'm sorry but I too want guildstones back. If it were nothing more than just a deco item... Though I would prefer it were somehow linked to gaining special "rank" in the guild. Would be cool if donations, quests, and such could be added to the guildstone by the guildleaders.... this would work sort of like townstones... only for guilds. Would I think Improve guild life.... give purpose back to joining a guild and give guild members something to work for. Guild leaders could add things rewards and what-not to the stones and perhaps this could be something that works with the reward systems... and town systems. Perhaps even this could work with town banners and such... bonus's could go to a town like being able to give the guild town things like a banker, stablemaster, etc... with your points gained.

I have a guildstone deed. Can I place the guildstone with it in my house, or will it be auto-converted to something undesirable? I'm not a member of the guild, just picked it up sometime over the years.

Personally i have around 20 guildstones. I wouldnt throw a fit or get my panties in a twist if they brought them back. Of course i would like to see them come back in a different art form and perhaps a bit more functional than they once were.

However do any of us know why they were taken away in the first place? I would love to know the answer to that.

@Obsidian if it has the guild name on the deed you can place it and axe it at your leisure. careful though, there is a bug where co owners can ax a guildstone they didnt place.

Easy peesy. New guild is started and the guildmaster receives a gemstone (steal the shame artwork and recolor). This stone is an ingredient for a mason recipe to make a guildstone. This guildstone would have some new artwork choices ( the cries of the collectors are stifeled). They are deed form and placed. Unless there is some Deet Deet Dee going on, there should be no problem controling the stone. Change of command and the recruitment are all part of the RP that guild wishes to act out. The new guildstone is a statue that can be titled. Retains color of granite it was made from. And can be colored by dyes.

Guilds that still have the old stones and are active. They now have some street cred.

While your messing around with the mason crafting table. Add in stone coffins that are containers. And even a few crypts. Being able to cobine the garden shed to a crypt deed to change the shed artwork would be the ticket. Also a 3x3 or 4x4 stone artwork that sucks up some major crafting ingrideints. Something an Imbuer would make into an active forge.
