Rares community,

If anyone can give me the story about any of these items so I can make books it would be appreciated. My museum is being built to accomodate anyone new who comes in the game so they can see the history of UO. Maybe shard, name of event, what items came with the ones I possess, and even a story if you experienced the event. I quote you in the books. Thanx for what help you guys can bring.

It's a changeling dupe copy of the original (cloak of shadows). I see them on vendors occasionally for ~10m.

The rotgut wine is an event item from Legends many years ago. It was given out at the grand opening of the Nightmare Casino in Britain that was opened by Eric Zessler (spelling?). It was, however, shortlived and was soon burnt to the ground by the council (I believe) because it was a pit of sin, corrupting the fine citizens of Britannia.

There was an Event on Drachenfels where everyone was asked by Elendrik to go to Hythloth and slay creatures. He then mentioned how Xena was crazy over daggers.
When killing creatures in Hythloth, you had a chance at receiving one of those four daggers. The person to hand in the most received a special shield.
(had the same name as the one Gencore sold for a couple hundred million UO gold)

Can't find the pictures right now, so I can't say much more about it. There were however also other events where such daggers spawned.

2-story statues are server birth rares from Covetous. Four per shard originally. They face south; there are also east facing versions that were stolen from Moonglow when the decorations in front of the bank were added, those are 255 stones and generally immovable. Among the rarest and most desirable items in the game due to their size and renown, they have been controversial and even illegal to own in the past.

Light was a daily spawning item from dungeon Khaldun. It was obtainable on most shards for close to a year after the dungeon opened and is thus far more common than other Khaldun rares (which were only available for a few days)

Fishing weight was created with a bug.

Ship claim ticket is an old item from the days when you would drydock a ship with the harbor master and he would give you the ticket to reclaim it. There were several variations of tickets, some of which included the boat's name, the city name, and sometimes coordinates but I believe localization made them all identical now.

Ceramic mug is a server birth item from various towns, cities, dungeons, etc. It is one of the most common of all server birth items.

Green arrow was created with a bug.

Hair dye and special beard dye are rewards from the 'Clean-up Britannia' campaign ca. 1999. This initiative was put in place when item decay was added, before which things left on the ground pretty much stayed where they were forever. By turning in junk one could accumulate tickets which could be redeemed for prizes. The hair dyes were minor prizes, with the better prizes being monster statuettes, phoenix armor, singing balls, and item bless deeds. The hair dye allowed one to color hair such godawful colors as purple and blue. Most hair and beard dye was used, and for a time until the hairstylist began dying hair funky colors, the hair dye was more valuable than the better prizes.

Large diamonds were a reward for a quest involving Jetryn Valek and the guards of Trinsic. This quest was on most shards, and was probably in 1998 as I don't remember it. I don't remember specifics of the quest. Large diamonds were also server birth rares from various places, though their numbers, along with other large gems' relative scarcity, implies that most must have come from the quest. This item was also heavily duped in later times.

Pumice is a reagent that was found at server birth in various locations. It, along with other 'pagan reagents' was also introduced into the game in the early days because of a planned addition for a necromancy skill. The skill was not actually introduced into the game for many years, and only some of the pagan reagents were used. Pumice was not. This item was heavily duped, and many 'colored' versions exist, duped from moonstones.

Tree ornament jewelry was created by industrious tinkers back in 1999 when X-mas trees were first implemented. The unintentional feature was quietly removed from the game shortly. Various amounts of jewelry exist on each shard, though with shard trading that is probably not so variable.

The Shield is called "Protector" and the amount sold for was 1.2 billion gp.

These were given out by her for her followers to wear. Kinda like her version of the Royal Guard Sashes.

In order to save her she was frozen in ice to stall the poison. A weekly event was held in the race tracks in Britian to find the fastest horse that would be able to make the journey from some place to Jasmine before the antidote's potentcy wore off. This is also where the items concerning the horse race sashes came from. To the best of my knowledge anyhow, some finer details may be wrong but thats the jist of it.
Various items where given like this as tokens of friendship to certain people for thier help.
I believe there are daggers as well.

Yes , There where daggers as well. There where only 7 or 8 of each made. Given, in my opinion, by one of the best Seers we ever had. It was one of his last main events before they took the Seers away. I believe the horse races lasted a few years after. May still go on. I'm not sure.

Member of the Legion of Chaos - Sash
Season 3 - Lake Austin event item. This was an item that was given out by (can't think of his name) for joining the Legion of Chaos. You were given or earned an official certification book (pink) for joining as well. Several were handed out. a little bit more storyline to it. Martel Nivarre's brother started the legion of chaos due to the lack of initiative for acting on the orc invasion.

Minotaur Axe -
Season 5 - Lake Austin event item. This item was dropped from minotaurs during an invasion on Luna along with broken minotaur horns and grey colored minotaur artifacts. Currently, Lake Austin still has the remnants of this event left. No minotaurs, but a skeletal dragon and a few undead are left to the north, and all of the entrances are still closed off.

Ship Claim Ticket - This was what a ship deed was before a certain pub dont remember which one. The name changed, but the current deeds that were still around remained the same.

Green Arrow and fishing weight - these were created from a bug as someone mentioned, the bug was selling it to an npc and buying it back. Other items were also created from this bug, blue apples (tribal berries), orange feathers (orange pedals), and I also believe candy (beads). not sure on the candy.

Last man standing robes were acquired from a pvp tournament on Legends about six years ago. I actually was in that tourny. It was the guild E., vs about 12 other people. About 20 people in all were in the tournament. I survived to the top five...but fel quickly as E. worked as a team then, slaughtered each other for the top prizes. First place got the I was the last man standing robe that had 5 physical resist, second and third place got the Penultimate Man standing and they had 3 physical resist. The rest of the participants recieved I was not the last man standing robe. The robes can be dyed and blessed.

Was it really that long ago? Geez. Anyway, I think the first place robe was actually 7 physical resist and read "I was the last man standing on Legends - November"

The last I saw it, it was in the ownership of Zan (sp?) on Chesapeake.

The Raiment of the Zessler Guard robes were given out by the evil necromancer Eric Zessler when his army invaded Britannia on Legends. The faithful who gathered to assist him were given the robes as a reward for loyalty.

The 'ethereal cloak' you mentioned is an item duped a year or two ago from an item called the Cloak of Shadows (this particular dupe left items with their original color but a defaulted name).

The Valentines Day Champion was a rose given out on each shard to the winner of a scavenger hunt on Valentines Day 2008.

Obsidian Warrior - Blue Sash

These were from a pvp tournament on Europa which was held in the football stadium just outside Luna.

If i remember correctly there were 14 of us...we all got a sash and the winner got one saying Obsidian champion.

This was about 4.5 to 5 years ago....can't remember exactly

White tree Xmas decorating contest was held on Baja, 2007. Sarsmi won first and I second place (2 different large white tree trunks with our placing tagged on it) The third place winner I don't recall who, but she and all who entered a home in the contest got one of your participent white saplings.

I was fortunate enough to have my prize given to me in a ice blue backpack tagged eggnog (so I got 2 prizes! lol)
