Bonsai/Egg : "Sorry. You cannot receive another item at THIS time" ??

I did the quest for the Bonsai and the Dragon Egg.

Out of mistake (was lagged), I clicked several times. I got it in my backpack and then saw a message on my screen for the rest of the clicking due to lag which said something like "Sorry. You cannot receive another item at THIS time".

The choice for the word "THIS" made me thinking......

It did not say "Sorry. You cannot receive another item", period. it DID say at "THIS" time.

Now, to me this means that at "ANOTHER" time I would be able to get another Bonsai or Dragon Egg.

So, here comes the question, is there a timer where the same character can get another Bonsai or Dragon Egg after X time (thus being "another" time....) has lapsed ??

What is this timer ?

popps no timer its pretty simple.. 2 per char.. thats trammel and felluca facets per char.. so if u have one account u can get 10-12-14 eggs dependant how many chars u have... or as they say in the usa ...toons!!!!! LOL

Ok, my english comprehension might be lacking but PLEASE, would you mind telling to me what the phrase

"Sorry. You cannot receive another item at this time"

mean ?

Words are used for a meaning. Words HAVE a meaning. Words are supposed to mean what THEY SAY.

Now, saying that one cannot get something at a given time to me only can mean that at ANOTHER time that thing CAN be gotten.

Hence, a timer that when lapsed would allow the same character to get more eggs/bonsai.

The point is NOT how many eggs or bonsai one might want, the point is the MEANING of the message. THIS time I can only read it as a limitation at THAT time, NOT another time.

Now, am I reading english in the wrong way ?

The same message was used with the humble pie vending machine style dispenser a little while ago. I would assume it has also been used with other item dispensers at recent events as well. Perhaps they should change the wording of the message to simply say "You can not receive another item". Personally it didn't bother me that it was worded that way, but some people are more picky than I am.

Well, I do not know abot being picky.....

I tend to think that words are used to mean something and if I say that I want to drink water, but someone hands me out a pizza, either I did not express myself correctly or I was misunderstood.

If the intention was (which I do not know....) to have players only be capable to get to use the Dragon Egg or Bonsai Tree Statues ONCE per character and then end of the story, well, my opinion is that the phrase "Sorry. You cannot receive another item at THIS time" does not deliver that message correctly.

It might make players go BACK with that same character at ANOTHER time to attempt get more. If the statue was NOT intended for multiple uses, I think it should have been stated more clearly and without any possible misunderstanding in the message to players.

That's at least how I see it.

Are you perhaps saying then, that CORRECT english to read that phrase

Would be that "this" time is intended as "forever" ? "Indefinitively" ??

So if I say "I am thirsty at THIS time", this means that I am ALWAYS thirsty ? Forever ? Indefinitively ?

you just have to click it 100 times within a 1 min timelimit and you WILL get another one (albet one with the leaves rubbed off it)

Most likely it's just a standard message for the spawners so they can give items after x amount of time. X in this case would be over 2 weeks so you only get 2 items.

Well, if this was the case, then the downtimer should be known to avoid to players the annoyancy to waste their time to go back and check multiple times, all for nothing.

I mean, the guess that the downtimer is 2 weeks is as good as someone else's guess that it is 1 hour, or 10 hours, or 24 hours or whatever.

"If" there is a downtime period before one can use the Bonsai or Dragon Egg Statues again, this timer should be known to players to avoid them having to go back there continuosly because the timer could be set at any given time, for all that we know.

Worse, "if" there is no downtimer, period, and the statues only work for 1 use per character and that's it, players should know it so as not to waste their time all for nothing going back there multiple times to check.

That doesnt mean you cant recieve a egg in the future because they might use it again.

What is means is at this time.

They are leaving it open to mess with you.

They were going to say this characture cant receive another egg but were afraid people wouldn't understand it meant the dragon egg and not NPC eggs. Then they were going to say can't receive another dragon egg... but feared people would think they meant for the account.

So the were going to do this

Your current characture got his dragon egg and can't get another one from this current event. However in the future the dragon egg might be again available and you could get another one. Please remember your other charactures may get an egg from this event. At this time you may not get another dragon egg for a characture that already got an egg.

But then they figured who would need this explaination....

This time, is THIS time which means NOW.

Ten minutes from now, is NOT this time but it will necessarily be A DIFFERENT time, as I see it.

So, saying that something cannot happen at THIS time means to me RIGHT NOW. But it does not mean that cannot happen again, say, 10 minutes from now which will be a DIFFERENT time.

So, the way the message is worded, at least as I see it, contains NO suggestion that the Bonsai or Dragon Egg Statues are only allowed to deliver once, period.
Instead, as I see it, they may induce a player to think that at a DIFFERENT time (not THIS time....), more gifts will be available to that same character.

I hear there was a patch to change "Bansai" to "Bonsai".
Personally, I think that was MUCH less a problem than the message which might mistakenly get players to waste their time trying to go back to the Statues to get more gifts at a DIFFERENT time.......

While I would have not bothered to make a patch to change from bansai to bonsai, I would have made a patch to change the warning message "if" the intention is to have the statues deliver ONLY 1 gift and none more, period.
