Boat Mining + Blackrock Elementals!

While boat mining, I was digging and dropping my ore upon the boat deck. In real life my phone rang and I turned my head to grab it. As I turned back around, I saw my imminent death coming.

I sailed to a guard zone so that when I rezed, I could call the gaurds to whack the foul Blackrock baddie.

When I was able to get back on the boat and claim my meager possessions, I found that I had acquired a small piece of Blackrock in my backpack. This was not the most enjoyable way to find Blackrock.

Once upon a time, the elementals would spawn on the water and disappear. I suppose those days are gone. I miss those days. *sigh*

Why is it that stuff always happens in that split second we aren't paying attention? I mean you could have sat that for hours closely watching the screen and not a thing would have happened. But the instant you break eye contact with the screen BAM! It's like the game Gods have a spycam.
A few weeks ago a Crystal Ellie snuck up on me while I was reading a note my wife left me. As I looked up there was the lack of color on my screen. I never seem to pay attention to where the healers are before I die either.

Isn't that the truth?! A lowly character of mine was sailing around Haven Island. Not being a good sailor, he skirted too close to Magincia and picked up a Daemon and something else. I saw it's name pop up at the edge, but my mouse couldn't click the Turn Around button on the UO-Rudder quick enough.

The blackrock elementals keep all miners' eyes fixed on their possessions. Or they should. These days I'm just about as twitchy while mining as I am while running about in Fel for any reason.

It's immediate, and if I'm not paying attention, I'm dead.

Had one climbing on my head earlier today..of course when I least expected it. Good thing my fire beetle has fast feets!
