Mikael sat in the meeting unaware of the conversations going on around him, the words drifting by unnoticed. Thoughts seethed through the Hand leader's mind, one question burning at the center, "Who?"

"Family is Power," his father's words echoed in his head. Those words had meant little to him…until he saw his own son dead before him. Now, all of Mikael's plans and desires had been forgotten. Only one plan, only one desire existed now…Vengeance. Anger began to swell in him, replacing the unfamiliar remorse, and the tired mercenary knew that rage was soon to follow.

Taking a calming breath, Mikael looked around the room. Spotting Aedon, a new thought came to him. Perhaps his sometime enemy knew something…anything that might help him find his child's murderer. For two years now he had searched with nothing to show for it. For all he knew, the killer could be someone in this very Hall. Paranoia began to grip him as he scanned the faces of those around the meeting room. Who would dare strike at him in such an open manner?

Suddenly unable to stand the cacophony, Mikael rose and made his way out into the open air. Without a word he joined Saviel at a nearby tavern- hoping that the ale might dull his thoughts, at least for a time.

Stratics Legend
He had attended meetings in other towns before. As Governor if Yew he felt a need to stay in touch with those who lead other towns. But that was past now, a new chapter had begun for Yew, and Aedon once again found himself Guardian of Aegis once more. There was no need for him to be here. But he had long held an interest in the people and doings if Trinsic. Perhaps from his own time among the Guardians, or maybe owing to his growing boredom which sprung from a sudden feeling of uselessness. He had himself on more than one occasion thought of joining the Rangers, or perhaps training among the knights who now protected Trinsic. But each time he mustered the will to act on his thoughts, something came up which as always, drew his attentions back to Yew. So, he did not need to be in Trinsic for this meeting, he came because he enjoyed the company of those he had come to know almost as well as he knew Beleg or Mika’el.

Standing in a corner, leaning against the bookcase, he listened to Trinsic’s Governor speak of his hopes and plans for the future of the town. He was pleased to hear that the Trinsic Council would continue, as would the Knights of the Holy Fist as protectors. The news was indeed good to hear, and yet as he stood there, an uneasiness crept over him. He shifted a bit and looked over to see if Izznet had noticed anything, but she stood calmly, listening to the current speaker. It was as though the room were watching him back. He could feel eyes on him, burning deep into him. Looking slowly around the room he soon found the cause of his discomfort. Sitting at the table was one he thought or perhaps only hoped to never see again.

Mikael D’Amivir.

It was only then that he noticed another of that clan standing not far from where he stood. Turning back towards Mik, he offered a polite nod, then went back to listening to the speakers, all the while keeping the leader of the Hand within his site. He fully expected him to teal across the table and attack at any moment. But he never did. There was an oddness about him. The malice Aedon always felt in his presence was still there. But there was something different about it. Aedon did not feel as though it were directed at him. But if not him, then who?

The meeting ended, and those present headed to the Keg and Anchor for a drink. The Hand came as well, but Mik did not stay long. He left without a word, without a threat made. The ones left behind did in time make it known that they would be coming to Yew looking for him, and Aedon, never wishing to show fear dared the one to come alone to see him. He and Izzy left early. He thought it best that they avoid prolonged exposure to the Hand until he found what t was that had drawn them back this time. In their own time, they would surely make a cause known. And as with each time he had to face this family Aedon wondered if this next meeting with them, would be in fact, his last.
