Blocked again

Ok why can't the game default one square over when I am doing compassion gains, or simply gating to a location. Whenever I drop some yahoo off at a city and I try to go back I get the message "something is blocking that location"
Do we REALLY need to have runes on SPECIFIC spots?
Will it hurt the game to default one space over so runes wont be blocked?

It's just the little things that matter, ya know?

Two things:
1st: When I open a gate to escort an NPC they just stand there blocking the spot.
2nd: Should I have to carry around more than 1 runebook fearing blocking?

On a side note: I have been seeing some of the NPCs moving away after I gate them in. I will keep a closer watch on this.

Move before you gate. They WILL follow you. Immediately take a few steps, and they'll follow you before settling.

No. Just mark your runes for places outside of the guard zone where nothing spawns, or in a remote corner. Then you walk a screen to town, no fears of blocking.
