I have seen recipes up for sale on several shards.

Also, it is easy to find Blackrock stew for sale on shards.

Since it took quite some effort in building up loyalty with the ophidians to earn the recipe, I would not find it as fair to now just hand it out with a simple quest. As many items in the game (a few examples that come to mind are the Invasion Spellbooks, Dread War Horse etc.), they are offered for a limited time and that's it. I do not see why Blackrock Stew recipe should be made available again. It was at some point, bunch of players got it, some can still be found up for sale and definately there is Blackrock Stew offered for sale out there (Origin has some for sale at less than 2,000 gp........).

Hmm I just did a search of all shards not one. and this isn't a mount or a spell book where talking about this is to feed a pet. Also on many shards you cant even find the already made stew do a search for your self. so basically they tried to give others the chance to have a similar pet like the dread horse then made it so you have to have a spacial stew to be some what as good as the dread mare and we cant no longer get the recipe for it, really lame and typical of this currant team :rant2:

But do tasty treats bring the poison breath back up to full strength?

Real life pulled me away from the bane war before I could acquire all of the 5000 ophidian points so I'm in the same boat.

I've not seen the recipe or the stew on any vendors on Napa so far. I will probably spend the rest of my UO life searching to no avail.

I would like nothing better then make the stew for my pets on the shards i play. I have the cooks I cant see why the recipy cant be gotten for it. As it was stated above the dragons are still tameable. My son went in serch to get me the recipy from what ever shard and he couldnt find any forsale.

Originally Green Soul stones were a limited times pre order item, like the hooded shroud of shadows, but they came back with a vengeance as a vet reward and fragments as well as a token, any item can be released at anytime as we were quoted for causing a ruckus, game play may change at ANY time

My Pally Archer only had 2,000 loyalty points when I decided to buy the recipe on Legends, but was told that the recipe did not transfer, and that the cook character had to kill 5,000 points worth of Ophidians. Since a skillet or rolling pin as weapon would take far too many years to gain loyalty, I gave up on my chef ever getting that recipe.

It's a shame, because Chef and Beggar are two of the minor templates that are actually fun to play (once they are trained. of course!). I too would like aother quest for blackrock stew - one that a cook with so-so weapon skills or a bit of magery could complete with little difficulty.

You've been misinformed there I'm afraid. My swords char got the receipe and my cook 'ate' it and can now cook BR stew.

Yeah any char can eat the recipe in scroll form. Doesnt matter if they got it or not. I personally did the quest with a friend, so we got 2 recipes... one we use and the other is in a box.... maybe to be sold, maybe to be held on to.

See I have an issue with the recipe being released again. For one.... enough people have recipes now you can find fairly cheap BR stew on any shard. If you cant, spam in general chat and you can prob find someone to make you it for rather cheap, especially if you provide the ingredients. And two, anyone remember when BR Stew first came out? You had to exchange, what was it 20?, Crystaline Blackrocks for one stew. Maybe was only 10, at any rate... I turned in as much as I could because I wanted to have a stockpile if I ever needed it or to sell. Then the recipe came out and I mourned the loss of all that crystaline blackrock that could've been better used in the making of imbued jewelry.

Not to mention if a quest came out that a cook could do with little effort.... I get to be pissed again that I spent all that time getting 8k loyalty when I could've just waited for a 5 min quest.

But there you go again, the reason for making a second quest line for cooks to get the recipy is simple...but you I assume want it to be rare..... well what happens to the players who need the food but that last cook on your shard who can make it quits?????

Ah you see the rub... i hope. Not everything is meant to be a rare.

Warriors went out to kill and gain loyalty while my poor cook could barely get a rolling pin in edge wise..... No my cook is not a warrior!!!! it was not fair to make it only obtainable by those who act barbaric and all cave manish. There should have been other ways to get it and you all know it. To be fair to the people who went through the Bane war I understand you wanting your hard won prizes to be special but a recipy???

35 pages of stew for sale, 10k & up

I have seen the Blackrock stew on some shard being sold even much less than that. Even as low as 500 gp per.......

I do not see any problem at all in getting blackrock stew one way or the other.

Besides, tasty treats also get eaten by the bane dragons.

Blackrock stew is BY FAR nothing rare.

Most shards have lots of vendors selling it and even if temporarily there could be a shard or two with a temporary shortage, chances are that asking in General Chat will find several players capable of making it and selling it to those in need.

There really is no need to replicate a quest to make this recipe available again.
The time to get it came and went, end of the story.

As it is with many things in the game, some players were able to get it and some weren't....

We spend always so much talking about wanting to promote players' interactions but then ask for changes which will kill these players' interactions by allowing players to be self sufficient in their needs ?

No thanks.

We can only have players' interactions as long as some players will have to resort to other players at least for some of their needs.

Blackrock Stew happens to be one of these needs for some players.

There is absolutely no need, IMHO, to make this recipe again available just like a whole lot of other items which at some point were obtainable but now are no longer.

On what shard is the recipe scroll on ?

If you were to sell it, what would you think would be a fair price for it ?

I agree. It would be a slap in the face to those who put effort and dedication in participating to the Event so intensively to earn their recipe.

Besides, if we kill all reasons for players to interact with other players because we allow them to be self sufficient in their needs we could well stop calling Ultima Online a multiplayer online game.

I mean, if players can get all they need on their own, without having to rely on others for their needs, that's pretty much a solo game to me, not a multiplayers game.......

good question - sell it now while it's actually worth something, especially if your tamer doesn't need it - and if they were on LS, what would be the price?

I'm with Sevin0oo0. Where and what$??

I have more then 1 cook and play more then 1 shard, Its why I ask that it be reissued.

The second reason Popp's is that on many shards where players got the recipy they have ether stoped making for their own reasons, quit, or moved to another shard.
Oh i quite agree you can buy it alomst everywhere, and to be honest i have seen it for up to 15k a pop and as low as 100gp, not on the same shard mind you... but i did see the item in question.
The only reason I can see any negative on putting in a new way to get this recipy is greed.
Are you that scared that if others could get it you would loose that much gold??
I for one need a use for this stack of tiny blackrocks that are taking up valuable space an not earning their keep.

Did I miss anything ?

I thought that this is what Ultima Online was all about, at least nowadays.....

Otherwise, why so much interest in EM Events and their "special" items ?

Why so much interest in any new artifacts which goes up for sale on most cases right as one gets it ?

I do not like an Ultima Online that has become so heavily dependant on items, because this is what makes gold "the" issue of playing the game. It makes scripting more of a bigger problem that it could be, I think. I would have MUCH preferrred that Ultima Online kept its focus on SKILLs rather than shifting onto items.

But things went differently, and now it is items which matter the most in UO, unfortunately.

That's why, IMHO, together with the players' interaction concerns, the Blackrock recipe should stay as it is and not be made again available.

A lot of players put a lot of effort in getting this recipe, as post #16 explains, handing it out to players would not be fair at all towards those who stopped doing anything else in the game to build up their loyalty, a lot of loyalty, with the Ophidians to earn their recipe.

A lot of players missed other items offered for a limited time with Events.
There is no reason for the Blackrock Stew recipe to be treated any differently.

Perhaps in the future there will be other recipes or other items from Events which, those who got this time the Blackrock Stew recipe, will miss and viceversa, evening out things over time.

Did not get the Blackrock Stew recipe this one time ? Try next Event for whatever new item it will bring for a limited time and just buy Blackrock Stew this time and sell whatever you will get in next Event to even out things....

That's at least as I see it.

I don't recall the OP asking for it to be handed out.

I could have sworn she asked only for there to be another quest for it so that it may be earned in another way since there is no longer a way to earn ophidian loyalty points anymore.

She never asked that it be easy.

The Bane Dragon itself was supposed to be a limited time mount, but it remains in the Abyss for taming. Thus it is not, assuming anyone wants it, going to be a rare pet, and thus should be able to be fed just as easily as any other easily available pet. (And people really should want it, it's an absolute monster PvM pet, yet curiously people seem to have taken against it)

And I say that as the only person who ever seems to sell the Blackrock Stew on Europa. It doesn't look like the ingot scripters are bothering to keep the small Blackrock pieces, indeed I keep finding them abandoned all over; I only get them myself when I go looking for Saltpetre for piracy. Am I one of a few people with the recipe too? What ever reason, the stew tends to sell at 5k on Europa; It would sell for much less if everyone had access to the food. But so what? Not everything has to be about the money; my own interest in pets is as virtual companions, and as a matter of principle I don't see why anyone who wants to travel with any pet, once they have it, should have limitations placed on that... they are Tamers, and true Tamers care for their friends... even if I personally benefit as it currently stands by providing the food. I got the recipe because I wanted to feed one of my own friends too (and I did the grind because I thought it was going to help Magincia; more fool me there), so let them have the way to do the same.

The Ophidians' traditional enemy is the terathons. Perhaps it could be made possible to earn loyalty points through a quest to kill those instead?
I have the recipe on both shards I play, my husband put in a monumental effort to obtain it for my Siege character.

Hail Sosarians,

May we Remove rumor and speculation and Have Players Post HERE on what Shards the Stew is Available and IF ANY Shard has NO Access to Blackrock Stew???

I tend to fall on the side of this discussion that those who went to the trouble and difficulty to Obtain the Recipe and Make the Stew Available ought NOT to have their Hard Work rendered Moot by easing the obtaining of the Recipe.

HOWEVER, I would like to hear FACTS by Shard that I may be persuaded Otherwise.

p.s. by way of Full Disclosure, Shards I Frequent currently have no shortage of Blackrock Stew

It was damn hard to get the recipe, ESPECIALLY, since the time to build up the lot of loyalty required was LIMITED since the Event had a limited life.

Meaning, that those players who put their efforts into getting the recipe had to forget doing much else in the game during that limited Event time (unless they had extensive time available to play Ultima Online during the Event life...).

Having a new Quest, ongoing, WITHOUT a limited time frame as it was during the past Event will definately make it easier since one could be able to build up the loyalty a little at a time, since there'd be no deadline to meet in a short period of time as it was during Event.

That is, in order to even try to get close to how monumental the effort was to get the recipe during the Event limited time frame, a new Quest would need to require at least TRIPLE that loyalty if not more, since there'd be no limited time frame to complete it as it was for the limited time Event.

But that's not the point either.

I missed the Invasion spellbooks which are VERY effective for a mage.

So, I ask then that ALSO those items are brought back again.

And since we are at it, I also happen to like very much the Dread War Horse, also these should be brought back. I do not see why a player should have to spend 20+ millions on these War Horses pretty much as one finds it annoying to spend a few gold points to buy Blackrock Stew from other players........

And the list of Event items to bring back should get quite longer.......

Nope, I really see NO POINT nor reason to bring back Blackrock Stew recipes.

As it has happened before AND it will happen again in the future, sometimes players get to earn the Event items, sometimes they don't. In the long run gains and losses eventually should even out if they get to participate to some Events and not to others.

Accepting the idea to bring back 1 Event item to respawn means doing the SAME for any and all past Event items. Either no to all or yes to all. Bringing back Event items to respawn, selectively, ain't a good way to go, IMHO.

Bring them ALL back to respawn or NONE.

Since this thread started I have seen one vendor on Napa selling Blackrock stew.

300K a pop. T'is the first I've seen in the last three or four months.

The seller must have seen this thread and started making them because this particular vendor had no such stews four days ago.

So at least this thread is bringing the stew's attention to the cooks who do have the recipe, letting them know that the stews are still worth making and selling.

No matter how much debate continues, at least there will always be that one shining lining:)

Someone asked for an example, I gave one, unless I misunderstood what they wanted.
I already have an unused recipe & I don't think I need it, nor the stew, the only thing related to this thread is it's value - for me it's about the gold, it's All about the gold

So that makes 2 recipes mentioned in this thread that could be considered up for sale.

Same question then, how much gold would you consider to sell this Blackrock Stew recipe and on what shard is it ?

I could care less about selling blackrock stew or feeding my dread swampie, I just like knowing my Chef character is capable of creating every dish in the limited UO repetoire :)

I was one of the first to get the Rotworm Stew recipe, and there certainly was/is not any financial reason or any other reason to have this recipe other than to retain Grandmaster Chef status in a RP sense ...

My smith, tinker, tailor, carpenter, bowyer have "eaten" every recipe, but do not necessarily make ever

But no, Popps - I will not trade you my Dread Horse nor my MR3 SDi30 LRC10 spellbook for the recipe :)

There are several things in the game that we paid a good price for or worked our tales off to have first or when they first came out, that are now free or easy to get now. That is how most games progress. If your going to have a tamable spawning in game then you need to have a way to feed it running concurantly.

As I said when I first posted this was the availability of the Stew. My cooks couldnt kill a mongbat much less a bane enemy. Son tried when he had time to play to gather the points but we came in late on the fray and he was unsuccessful in his atempt.
I will tell you this, if it comes down to 300k stew or a free tasty treet I get from my t maps, the bloody dragon will be satisfied with that. I will not shell out that kind of gold for a pet food.
Popps you tend to forget many players have limited time to play these days and the few hours they can put in wasnt enough during the bane event. In case you didnt notice the real world had a bit of a money crunch and job loss.
Our house like many others felt the belt tightening and time for play went by the wayside to keep the real world afloat. I do not see the getting of this recipy as a big deal that would rock UO to the core.
Your intrest in the player with the spare recipy I feel is to take it off the market and make it so bloody rare that you very well will upset the balance one day. Stop being a trouble maker.
Origin you dont see it often on a vendor, but its cheap when you do. Blackrock pebbles are all over the shards on the ground, the recipy should be in a quest that if a player wants it they can work to get it.

I usually see it for 200k and I wont pay this either! I played all I could and am about 1200 points away. Between working on staff here, Real life, doing other things in the game like going to events and such I just did not have time!
I dont want it given to me and would have no problem with being allowed to keep gaining loyalty points even if it was only 1 point per kill at least i would have the option!
